Uncover the difference between a Nutritionist & Dietitian and decide which one is best for you
Registered dietitians are qualified to assess, diagnose and treat dietary problems or nutritional needs. They also tend to help clients with special dietary requirements or medical conditions. To be a dietitian, you’ve got to be registered with the Health and Care Professionals Council (HCPC). Many dietitians work within the NHS as opposed to privately, although you can still find private dietitians to help advise you on your eating habits. Whereas nutritionists are more likely to be the ones advising on weight loss or sport nutrition. Nutritionists can be registered with the UK Voluntary Register of Nutritionists (UKVRN), but they don't have to be.
To become qualified as a nutritionist, I had to complete a course run by the UKVRN. After completing the course, I became qualified as a registered nutritionist. This means that all my clients can check my qualifications and experience online. Clients can therefore be confident in my abilities, as they know that I'm qualified under a trustworthy organisation.
Weight loss is the most common reason that new clients come to me. They often find it difficult to know how to get the right nutrients into their diets without feeling hungry or unsatisfied. But over the last few years, I’ve had more and more people coming to me with IBS-related issues. I think that's because more people are recognising the symptoms of IBS and are getting diagnosed. They then come to nutritionists or dietitians for guidance on how to alter their eating habits to help relieve their symptoms.

After being diagnosed with ulcerative colitis, I struggled to understand what was causing me to have a bloated stomach, diarrhea and lack of energy. After finding Melody's webpage I got in touch and she has been a great help with understanding more about my gut health. She introduced me to the microbiome tests that provided much needed information to fully understand my body and home into the factors causing the array of day to day struggles that I had. Taking a step back and cutting things out of my diet, such as diary products has made a huge difference. The supplements Melody recommended have also improved my energy levels and my gut health. Melody has been such a great help and I'm glad I got in touch with her. I feel more energised and I understand my gut more and I don't have the constant worry in the back of my mind nowadays. Reviewing the test results with Melody also helped me understand that my diet wasn't all bad but I just needed a helping hand in homing in on a few things to improve my vitamin levels within my body. Understanding that the smallest of changes to my diet has worked. I would highly recommend working with Melody to address any nutritional issues. She is a lovely person to work with and extremely knowledgeable in her field of expertise!

I had such a great experience with Mahsa. From the very first consultation, she took the time to really listen and understand my needs. She created a nutritional plan that was tailored specifically to me, practical, achievable, and realistic for my lifestyle. She’s incredibly kind, knowledgeable, and empowering, and I truly appreciated her supportive and non-judgmental approach. I already feel so excited by the results I’m seeing and can’t wait to get to where I want to be. Mahsa is so good that she’s now helping not just me, but also my partner! I couldn’t recommend her more to anyone looking for professional, personalised nutrition support that actually makes sense and feels good to follow.

Hi Peter - a long overdue review but from the heart... When I hit a post-menopausal block with weight loss, I reached out to Peter for professional guidance. Over 6 months he helped me to lose 12kgs, regain my control and establish a new vision. He introduced a specific food plan (all very delicious and filling), an exercise regime (all very manageable for a non-gym 60+), informative motivational audio books, recipes, info on protein powders/supplements and, of course, supportive advice throughout. It's all felt effortless. All I did was follow his simple instructions and it's yielded the results I thought were impossible. Best of all, it's a sustainable plan for life (hurrah!). Thank you, Peter! Hope all is well with you. Best, Kate
