Nas is a great DJ. He stepped in last minute as the original DJ we had booked cancelled on us. He kept the party dancing and he stuck to the genres that we had asked him to. I always loved music as a kid. I played many different musical instruments, as well as being part of the school band. As a consequence, I got to help out with audio setup before school shows at a young age, which made me interested in knowing what makes music sound good. When I was a teenager, I started liking a lot of the well-known DJs at the time, and decided to try it out myself. I immediately loved it, as it merged my love of creating music with different sounds and the technical side of music production. When I left school, I set up my own DJ business, and the rest is history.
I mostly DJ for parties and events that are normally for adults, although I have performed at a few children’s birthday parties in my time. I work at weddings, Christmas parties, birthday parties, as well as proms and the odd corporate event. It’s a nice mix, as each event has a different kind of audience and various kinds of music requests and tastes. It keeps things entertaining for me, which helps me to stay on form.
Depending on the vibe of the event, it’s usually John Denver’s ‘Take Me Home’. Everyone loves that song, and it always gets people on their feet dancing together. It’s a great closing song for bringing the guests together and leaving on a happy note.
