Hi there, my name's Pete Rowland, aka Disorda, I've been collecting vinyl and deejaying for 25 years, mainly playing Hip Hop, Reggae, Soul, Funk & Disco. I run my own nights and play at numerous clubs, bars, events and festivals. I also present two long running radio shows, run an online record store and label, Suspect Packages, and also The Vinyl Workshop, offering DJ Lessons, from vinyl, for all ages and stages. Music is my life, alongside my wife and children that is... ; )
As I mainly play off vinyl is all about the flow and selecting the right type of music for your crowd, keeping them on their dancing feet and not wanting to leave the dancefloor, it's all about reading the crowd and knowing your music inside out. Deejaying off vinyl it's a skill in its own right, and a joy to watch someone do too. Many deejays these days just stare at a laptop and press a button and it does it all for them, with access to thousands of mp3's that don't sound as nice as a record rotating. The art of DJing starts with the turntables, a mixer, and a few boxes of vinyl that you have to make work the floor, it keeps you on your toes, I love that.
That old skool sound with a new skool twist, you don't have to have the present day pop hits to rock a party! Trust me. ; )
The love of music and the joy it can bring to your life. I started collecting records when I was 14, and I'm still buying. I started out by selling mixtapes, I then started selling the music I was putting on the mixtapes...
'Forget all your worries, and dance...'
Because I love making people dance and enjoy themselves, that what you want isn't it?
Watching smiling faces and getting constant high fives for the tune's dropped. It makes it all worthwhile knowing the crowd are enjoying it as as much as I am.
