We love telling great stories! And two people's wedding day is the opportunity to tell the best story of all, the story of love. That's why we got into filmmaking in the first place. We all come from a TV or advertising background. That might sound glamourous, and sometimes it can be when working on a big budget production with well known stars. But to be honest, a lot of commercial work can be pretty boring. Weddings are a breath of fresh air in comparison, and offer the opportunity to create a film that really matters to the people involved. Your day will have moments of seriousness and fun, of laughter and tears, and this gives us great material to craft something meaningful. The resulting film may only be seen by a handful of people (or many more depending on how big your family is!) but it will touch them in a way a TV commercial never will.
As a freelance cinematographer for many years, I worked on may different kinds of productions. I've been running my own production company, Red Paint Films for over 7 years. I love working on TV shows and commercials, but wanted to add a new aspect to my work. Having worked on many wedding shoots for some of the UKs top wedding film companies, I decided it was time to start my own business, with the simple aim of creating the best wedding films in the UK.
In the old days wedding videos were a bit... simpler. Just one person at the back of the ceremony and toasts with an old VHS camcorder. But, to be honest, the results were usually a bit... boring, as anyone who had to sit through them would agree! Many of these same videographers are still around. They may have updated their equipment a little, but the techniques are still much the same. However, because they don't take as much time in post production (editing, colour correction, music and sound design), they can offer lower prices. If that is all you are looking for, then you have a lot of options to choose from, but we are probably not the company for you.
However, if you're looking for something a little more special, that you, your friends and family will love to watch, then I'd like to talk to you about creating a really beautiful film of your big day.
