Set in the South Devon countryside, in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, take in the fresh sea air, stunning scenery and coastline that make Carswell a coastal Devon wedding retreat. Just a short drive from Plymouth and the picturesque towns of Kingsbridge, Bigbury, Salcombe and Dartmouth, this working organic dairy farm is tucked away with its own private beaches and secluded coves.
We are a Victorian styled hotel situated in the heart of Torquay on the Devon Coast. Part of the Andrew Brownsword Hotel group we value our customers by going above and beyond in everything we do. We have 152 bedrooms in the hotel with private meeting space perfect for weddings, private parties and business meetings.

We came here for my boyfriends birthday and booked the winter spa break package with an overnight stay. I paid extra for the upgrade to a deluxe room with a sea view and balcony, it was worth every penny. The hotel is beautiful and has a classy feel to it, there are many places to enjoy the view whilst relaxing in one of the bars (which are pricey but you would expect that). We pre booked our treatments before arriving: A Facial and Head, Back and Shoulder Massage, both were fantastic. The rest of the spa facilities were lovely, including the jacuzzi and steam room; my only downfall was the changing rooms because they are in need of a facelift. The one shower is cold and dark, doesn’t look very inviting and the changing room itself is open plan, not everyone likes that.
For lunch we tried the Red Pepper Soup and Eggs Benedict from the all day menu, both fairly priced and tasted amazing! The service was professional and what you would expect from a 4* hotel. Unfortunately, we could not say the same about the service in the restaurant for our evening meal. We were seated by the supervisor, who was lovely and made sure we had everything we needed, though the standard of service went down hill from there. The waiter appeared to lack experience of the job to be serving in a 4* hotel which was disappointing, we have received better customer service in chain restaurants. We had the pea soup for starters and the pork belly for mains, which were faultless and the creme brûlée for dessert that wasn’t so nice. The wait between each course was reasonable until we had completely finished our desserts. We sat and waited for 30 minutes, being unsuccessful in catching the waiters attention, so decided to get up and leave, this swiftly caught his eye. Finally, after mentioning on numerous occasions that it was my boyfriends birthday (on the arrival date) and requesting small things to make it special, I was disappointed that no efforts had been made to persue my requests. On the whole, the evening meal was good, but the service let the experience down.
Breakfast the next morning was beautiful and a completely different experience to the evening before, the waitress was attentive and couldn’t have done anymore for us.

Had our Wedding Day here on 3rd July 21, can’t express how helpful the staff where on organizing the day before and the way the day flowed was fantastic, the food was amazing, with an excellent choice and all our guests where really please. With the current situation Trevor couldn’t be more understanding and helpful and nothing was to much trouble. I would highly recommend this venue for your special day.

I became addicted to "Lorrens" three years ago when a friend and I had a two day relaxation break to celebrate a special birthday. This was the first time I had ever treated myself to a spa break where I was totally able to switch off, where I was completely looked after (inside and out) and where the most taxing thing I had to do was get up, put on my fluffy dressing gown and turn up to treatments on time (even then Suzanne or the staff would have come to find me if I hadn't appeared). If you want to go somewhere where you sleep deeply, eat healthily and feel wonderful, Lorrens is the place for you. They have loads of flexible, day, or residential offers, and when you work out the cost of the individual treatments you get, plus food and the accommodation, the price is really competitive... If you book on any of the Slimaway Packages you not only get pampered, eat well and sleep well, but Steve makes sure you exercise enough so you lose weight and/or inches too. I cannot recommend this enough.

Just a stunning place. So calm, relaxing and "natural". The yurts are cosy yet were more than big enough for my family (5 of us) and there's loads on site to keep adults and kids entertained for a weekend without having to go elsewhere. Plus good quality shower and washing facilities. All in all a great place at a great price.

We got married at Kitley House yesterday, and I really cannot recommend the team enough!!!! Everything was laid out to perfection, the venue is absolutely stunning especially with the new renovations and the staff are amazing, particularly Becky! She made sure that everything and everyone was on time, and was just so friendly and lovely which made us feel so relaxed. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff and everyone had a smile. The rooms are also stunning, I struggled to leave! We really cannot thank you enough - if I could do it all again tomorrow at Kitley I would! Thank you, we’ll definitely be returning for anniversaries!

We stayed at the hotel for a wedding, The good... The room was a very good size, 2 big mirrors, bathroom a good size, bath and shower, kettle, big comfy bed, was clean, big windows that let lots of light in but also big thick curtains that kept light out :-) for 2 people staying you got 2 room keys.
There is only a couple of small bad points..
For 2 people staying there was 1 flannel, only enough milk, sugar and teabags for 1 cup, wifi you had to pay for, breakfast was another £13 per person (we paid £75 for room) parking was £2 for the night.. wifi and parking shouldve come with the price of staying.. otherwise i enjoyed my stay, staff were all friendly and helpful and hall for wedding for absolutely stunning.. thank you
