Yes, it’s really important to make sure this is as organised as possible. Depending on the wedding, it can be tight for us photographers to leave the wedding and get to the reception in time. Or – even more tricky – leave the preparation stages (groom and bride’s houses) having taken photos, in time to see guests arriving at the church!
Most of us take a single camera with a short and a long lens, and one tripod. This enables us to take high quality candid shots from afar, without intruding on guests, as well as close ups. With a tripod, we can get more formal group shots, if the client has requested these. What we need depends entirely on the type of wedding, the client, and the kind of shots they’ve asked for.
Yes, wedding photos make up approximately 70% of my business. I take time to meet with and get to know all of my clients. This helps me to ensure that I get exactly the kind of photos they’re looking for, and also provides me with the greatest job satisfaction. Some clients are more clear on what they’re after than others, or have a particular idea of style in mind. This allows me to be more creative and artistic on occasions with the type of shots I capture. I really enjoy capturing people’s wedding day, as they’re such happy events.
