I am a qualified counsellor, who would be really pleased to hear from you. I offer face to face sessions at a couple of locations in the Staffordshire Moorlands and offer online or telephone counselling too. If you'd rather walk and chat we can do that too. I counsel people and couples 16 years old and above. It is important that you are happy that you have chosen the right counsellor, particularly as research shows that counselling is most effective when the counsellor and client get along. Its difficult choosing anything from the internet let alone a counsellor and so I am happy to offer an initial 30 minute session free of charge so that you can decide if we would work well together. I'd always suggest too that you make sure that you choose a qualified counsellor. So please do check me out. At this point though, I need to tell you that my real name is Amanda, but everyone (apart from my parents) calls me Sam. I tell you this because if you check me out through BACP (and you probably should!) I’m registered under my formal name of Amanda Hughes! I am an member registration number 00929779. If you would like confirmation, please email them through their website https://www.bacp.co.uk/ samhughes.co.uk gives more information if you want to take a look. I am happy to answer any questions during the free 30 minute session. Please get in touch.
I love helping people overcome their issues.
One client described the journey as being in a murky swimming pool - at first the water was up to their chin and they were away from the steps. Over the sessions they said they understood why they were almost out of their depth and were able to find the steps and gradually climb up, one step at a time. Rather than looking down they were looking up to the sky and the sun and were able to climb up and down the steps into the now clear water as they wished. Seeing this client (and others) grow in self esteem and confidence and to leave feeling happier and optimistic is what I really love about this job.
I was a senior manager in a blue chip company managing a reasonably large team. We were fortunate to have an employee counselling service available. Whilst referral to this organisation was entirely confidential a couple of my team, experiencing hugely traumatic events in their personal life, shared that they were having this counselling. The improvement in these people's mental health was amazing. It made me convinced that I wanted to be able to help people in that way too. I therefore left my job and took the qualifications to enable me to offer my own counselling service.
It is really important to choose a counsellor that you think you will get on with. Research shows that it is one of the most important factors in gaining maximum benefit from the sessions. I therefore offer a free 30 minute session so that you can decide if I am the right therapist for you. Please get in touch.
I offer counselling, face to face, while we walk, on line (via zoom) or by telephone in addition to face to face. Whichever suits you the best is fine by me.
It is good to see the COVID restrictions relaxing, however if you feel nervous and would like me to wear a mask or move further away from you please ask. I want you to be comfortable.
