For many people their only experience of counselling will have been on TV or at the movies but this is often a far cry from reality. We all have times when things are bothering us, when we feel stressful, anxious, when we've lost someone we're close to or when a relationship is not working out as we'd hoped and sometimes, most times in fact, we're able to rationalise things and get on with life perfectly well without counselling but for some people the hill is too steep to climb or the prospect of confronting their issues in the first place is just too daunting.

Sharon has helped me through so much i'm glad i met her i saw two counsellors before i had counselling with Sharon i thought whats the point in seeing someone new therapy doesn't work then i met Sharon her methods and ways are completely different she didn't put a book in front of me to work from and compare my emotions to those she worked with me i'm thankful and now think clearly use her methods in life to help me cope and get through situations on my own without having a breakdown i would highly recommend Sharon i can say i know its works for me.

Brian has been a listener/counsellor for 20 years, over this time he has realised that talking is so important. He has also recognised that men struggle with this. This has led Brian to specialise in male emotional well-being. Yes Brian does specialise in male mental health, but he also work with women, couples and families too. It is well known that talking helps to defuse difficult feelings, and situations.

About me, I have worked for over 20 years in Mental Health Services in various settings. In 2017 I trained in EMDR as some of the barriers to recovery for my clients were past traumatic experiences and beliefs that were stuck. The aim is to assist people in recovering from their trauma or difficulties so that they can go on to continue to have lasting improvement and be free from defective limited beliefs.

Hello, taking the first step towards changing aspects of your life or yourself, and getting help by the means of counselling, can be extremely unnerving! I get that. That's why, as a counsellor and Psychotherapist, you will be treated without judgement; you will receive honesty and unconditional positive regard. I believe that for a person to change significantly, to be able to grow and achieve the life that they want for themselves, they need to be able to be in an environment that encourages that- in other words- a safe, and trusting place, where they are able to be their true selves, not the masked person that we all (at times) pretend to be. Which in turn, not being our true authentic selves can be exhausting, which leads to us not be honest and genuine with ourselves, hence depression and all the other nasties can make a way into our psyche. I have had a passion for mental health for many years now, my life has had it's high's, but also a few dark lows, which to be honest, was the reason for a career change into counselling, from teaching Primary school children. I can't promise I will be the best fit for you, because everyone is an individual and we like different qualities in others, but I will promise to listen to your story, really hear what you are saying and be with you whilst you work your way through your own therapeutic healing process from whatever life has thrown at you on a dreary Tuesday morning when you were least expecting it. Who knows, our therapeutic relationship may be the thing you need to be the true YOU.
I love the different relationships I have with different clients. To be able to be part of their healing is very humbling and a privilege.
I believe going to see a therapist when I was 23 inspired me. I was in awe of what she could do, how just talking about my trauma seemed to magic parts of the hurt into parts that I could understand, which in turn made me realise that although it happened, I was no longer in threat, I was safe and therefore, feeling safe allowed me to grow, to develop and begin to have less anxiety over certain situations.
It was at this point, I knew that I needed to help others like myself to become the best version of themselves as they could be.
I don't like the word 'should', it puts too much pressure on values. We live in a world where from little children we are told what we 'should' and 'shouldn't do', these values, given to us by others, cause immense stress and concern to us as we grow and into adulthood.
So I am going to refrain your question Bark!
Why would your clients want to choose me as their therapist?
I do not know, maybe because I have had trauma too, maybe because I am a mother, maybe because I have suffered loss, maybe because I am just trying to get through this thing called life the best I can and maybe because I am not perfect. I have made big mistakes, but maybe because I believe in good relationships with fellow human beings can heal the soul, maybe because I believe everyone is born good and their environment they grow in determines how how they can fly?
I can provide online services to people outside the Folkestone area.
