Sam Roger Counselling

I am a counsellor, working outdoors with walk & talk therapy. I am a psychodynamic therapist - this is a form of talking therapy which believes that you are informed today by your childhood. My form of therapy is helpful for those struggling with anxiety and depression and it can also be helpful for those with a ADHD/ND diagnosis. There are of course many reasons why people choose therapy. Life transitions such as work challenges, pregnancy, peri/menopause, diagnosed (late) neurodivergence, marriage adjustments, or retirement can all become challenging and may benefit from the perspective that therapy brings. I work hard to ensure you feel safe during therapy, which helps us explore your life with curiosity, together. Often, by shedding light on your early years and childhood experiences, you can better explore and understand your current life. We do this by uncovering patterns and insights that may lead to real, lasting change. This can be a difficult journey, and my job is to help you through the process safely. Therapy can be both enlightening and painful, ultimately it can offer a transformational experience. Walk & Talk helps integrates movement and nature into the therapeutic process which can be particularly beneficial for those with ADHD and ND conditions. In the outdoors, you are free to move, sit, or simply stop and take in nature. We can walk along paths, pavements, or we can sit and talk outside. Did you know that research has shown that spending 20 to 30 minutes outside can reduce your anxiety

What do you love most about your job?

It's a privilege to work with people who have the courage to come to counselling and work towards better mental health. I find it incredibly inspiring to see individuals make significant changes in their lives, facilitated by counselling.

The process is challenging and requires courage, but witnessing a client's journey of growth towards a stronger, more resilient version of themselves is what keeps me passionate about the impact that counselling can have.

What inspired you to start your own business?

I love counselling and love walking and talking in the outdoors. I want to share my love of being in the outdoors.

Why should our clients choose you?

I offer clients the chance to meet in the outdoors and to benefit from the trees, nature and movement. I work with the aim of making sure clients feel safe throughout their counselling journey. It can be hard at times. Clients may feel they don't want to continue, this is when therapy is really working. Being able to push through and use all your courage to continue really helps the process work and I work hard to help people carry on to the end, so they can really benefit from their therapy.

Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.

I don't provide online or remote working - I am an outdoor therapist & would consider face to face session indoors on request. Working in the outdoors is very beneficial to the body and helps reconnect body & mind and is thought to help reduce anxiety.

What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?

we meet outside so this should be easier to manage Covid
