My husband and I did hypnobirthing sessions with Carlie in preparation for the birth of our baby boy Bobby. I was terrified of childbirth, almost to the extent that I wasn’t even sure if I wanted children at one point! I used to watch one born every minute and thought that childbirth was some form of torture, I never thought I would be able to get through it from the images I saw! As soon as I started hypnobirthing, my mind was at rest and I began to actually look forward to labour, Carlie was incredible and both my husband and I were extremely relaxed during our sessions, so much so that my husband often had a snooze!! The visualisations and calming techniques which we learnt were invaluable and I was lucky enough to have an extremely straight forward and quick labour by utilising them. It took 7 and a half hours for me to give birth to Bobby from the onset of labour and throughout that time I was completely calm and in control and managed to get through the intense contractions just through breathing and gas and air. Before hypnobirthing I was convinced that I wanted an epidural for the pain but I truly believe that my sessions with Carlie are the reason I was blessed with such a positive birth. Prior to giving birth many people seemed to enjoy telling me horror stories and some even laughed at me when I told them I was doing hypnobirthing! My birth story is one that I want to share with other mothers to be to give them a positive image of childbirth as it isn’t something to be feared. I was lucky enough for my birth to go as planner however even if it didn’t I was fully prepared for complications and felt like Carlie equipped me with the techniques to deal with them if I needed to. I can’t recommend Carlie enough xx

"Stefanos has gained my trust and his impact on my change was very significant as he helped me understand why very often I feel frustrated toward myself and other people. He was very understanding and helped me see the positivity I have in me in ways I couldn’t see before. Without doubt, Stefanos has lots to offer to people who need psychological support".

Non-profit organisation that offers support & raises awareness for Mental Health, Addiction & Recovery #ItsOkayNotToBeOkay
Practice based on real-life experience, rather than text-book learning. The ability to truly relate to the client is key to gaining trust, respect, empathy and success. Over 10,000 people worldwide follow the online support network that Taking off the Mask offers and their experiences are available for all to access. Face to face support offered to adults and young people, the latter gained through 20 years leading a successful, specialist SEMH provision. Online searches will show regular interviews on TV and radio and, perhaps even more importantly, the reasons why I do what I do.
The ability to help and support others to be the very best versions of themselves has been my motivation for 25 years. From my years in education, empowering the most vulnerable young people in our communities, to now, supporting adults all over the World, struggling with their mental health - facilitating change has been my focus. I have been there, and know that is something which is never too far away from us all. Simply knowing or believing that it CAN be 'put in its box', is so often the first hurdle to jump and, seeing this happen to so many people over the years, brings me a pride and a joy that words cannot adequately describe.
I struggled and in my darkest moments it was the power and love of strangers that pulled be back from the edge. It is as a direct consequence of their actions that called me to do the same. Text book psychology may work for some but, for me, the ability to talk to others that had been exactly where I was, made all the difference. I blogged, and people read.....in vast numbers. The rest was history and now Taking off the Mask supports over 10,000 people in over 100 countries.
Clients should choose me if they want someone that they can consider 'real'. I would never question the many wonderful and superb counsellors and therapists that are out there but, if like me, you would feel more comfortable with someone that has the same lived-experiences and knows exactly how it feels to be sitting across from me, I can safely say that you won't be disappointed. I don't tick boxes and don't watch clocks - I only facilitate change.
I can offer online and remote sessions for those that prefer it but, of course, would always advocate face-to-face, wherever possible.
All Covid protocols are met, including cleaning, masks and remote learning as required.
