Sewing can be very rewarding, well watching the garment coming together. Sewing and Crafting also helps to relieve stress and depression as it encourages mindfulness and being a sufferer of PND when my kids were born, my hobby got me back on my feet and back to normal. It helps my relax and keeps me positive. I really enjoy doing it and was always told when growing up that work is so much more bearable it you enjoy what your doing. And, to be successful in something that makes me happy, makes me feel good.
I have always loved sewing, and being creative. I initially learned to sew watching my gran sort and mend clothes when I was very young and my interests grow from there. I was incouraged to learn things like cross stitch and knitting by my mother, and when my kids were young i moved on to curtains and such like. This was when i discovered I did just love doing it I wanted to learn how to do it properly. So, I paid to learn from home and done various other courses. Which brought me to where I am today.
Due this time I also had to look into various different designers, there styles of design and there history. When doing this I just fell in love with Dior`s "New Look Collection" first released in the late 1950`s, and that was where my interest of Vintage Garments came into play.
I have recently decided that now the kids are all at school and I spend my day (everyday) in front of my sewing machine that it was time to make from it instead of giving my items away for nothing, so that`s what brought me here today.
With regards to the Sewing Lessons I feel that I have a lot of knowledge and techniques that i can share, I have a lot of patience (i am guessing that`s with having 5 Kids & 2 Step lol...) and I am willing to work at the clients pace and listen to any questions they may have to get them to the stage they want to be at. I want people to enjoy my craft as much as I do, but also feel it is an important skill to have if you want to have kids and a family. And, since schools don`t openly teach it these days a lot of people go without. Learning to sew is n`t just for people who want to make it in the Fashion Sector its for everyone that wants to learn it and make things for friends and family.
The amount of clothes nowadays that are purchased and then thrown away because they feel that mending a small hole or putting a patch on a pair of jeans is to difficult, is shocking. By using a simple skill you can make clothing last that wee bit longer. Plus, its an enjoyable skill to have...
