What do you love most about your job?

I love teaching Saxophone and Clarinet and seeing my students progress and enjoy music-making. I am a fully qualified teacher with QTS and a PGCE from the University of Cambridge.

What inspired you to start your own business?

I have been playing music for almost my whole life. I started the Clarinet at school aged 9, back in the days when local authorities made it easy to access a range of musical experiences to try out. Later on, I was fortunate enough to start the Saxophone when I happened to see a Baritone Saxophone lurking in a music cupboard at the school where my dad worked. I asked if I could try it, and the school let me borrow it, and despite the fact that it was almost as big as me I was hooked!

I believe in making music accessible, achievable and affordable through high quality teaching from a fully qualified expert specialising in young learners.

Music builds self esteem and resilience, and brings a sense of success, confidence and joy to all those who experience it. I believe those young people who have the opportunity to be involved in music from an early age develop many positive attributes and skills which help them in other areas of their lives.

I was excited when I discovered the Nuvo range of instruments. Their mission to improve access to music making for young people struck a chord with me. These Nuvo instruments give young people an affordable way in to learning an exciting and expensive instruments. They are designed with young people in mind and so, whilst not compromising on sound and quality, they are lighter, more resilient and easy to clean and maintain. I am proud to be a Nuvo Ambassador, collaborating with other like minded music teachers and keeping up to date with new technology that makes music easier to access.

I was delighted to be a Finalist in Tamworth Business and Community Awards 2018 in the categories 'Most Promising Start-up' and 'Services' after receiving many nominations from students and their families. It such a privilege to teach people to learn to play Saxophone and/or Clarinet.

In December 2018 we held our first Christmas Concert and Wilnecote Parish Hall, Tamworth. Students of all ages and abilities performed on stage to their loved ones. It was an amazing opportunity for all involved and we are now looking forward to our Summer concert in 2019.
