I offer extra tuition for Maths, Science, Design Technology and Engineering from Key Stage 2 upwards. I also work with Home Educated children and can offer a full range of subjects as required. Prices are £20 - £35 per hour, for individual tuition, depending on subject and key stage, however, I believe that education should be for all so unwaged adults and children of unwaged families are just £10 per hour.

My son struggles to sit still for longer that 5-10 minutes, he has had one lesson with Amanda and he managed 40 minutes fully engaged and didn't want the lesson to be over! Amanda is a fantastic tutor and my son has been talking about his maths lesson all week! He can't wait for the next one! Definitely recommend.

Being an experienced English teacher and tutor, I specialise in helping children to achieve the all-important GCSE grade 4 and above. Past clients include the children of University lecturers as well as local businesses. I hold a distinction grade Masters Degree in Education, as well as the usual cluster of teaching qualifications. Moreover, I have over 15 years classroom experience. Being a naturally lively and engaging person, I have a unique teaching style including colour coding, memory hooking (both excellent for exams) as well as the more traditional approaches to learning the essentials of both English Literature and Language. I also credit myself with the ability to build pupils’ confidence both with their English skill obviously, but also personally. I believe individual growth comes from an enquiring mind alongside the ability to remain resilient when faced with adversity. As part of my Masters degree, I have conducted academic research into exam stress and so feel well placed to claim myself to be a sensitive and kind tutor who has an awareness of the emotional pressures that the educational system places upon students. Therefore, my style would particularly suit the needs of a reluctant or anxious student.
I love seeing students grow in confidence as they work through the skills needed in order to prosper with their English education. It's a wonderful job and I relish the chance to help students achieve their absolute best.
I've worked in the classroom for many years and could see that students seemed to be responding positively to my way of teaching. After enjoying years of success for my students and a cluster of 'Good' and 'Outstanding' Ofsted assessments for my classroom skills, I thought I could transfer my skills to one-to-one and small online groups.
I'm a naturally lively individual, but also with an emotional intelligence that enables me to 'read' my students anxiety levels and working style. As part of my Masters Degree, I conducted research into exam stress and so I am well placed to understand what I need to do, both academically and emotionally, to help students grow in self confidence and academic vigour.
I can provide tutoring both face-to-face and also online. Despite being based in the Midlands, I currently tutor students from various locations across the UK, from London to Yorkshire.
Currently, face-to-face sessions are suspended. However, online sessions can be provided as normal. When face-to-face sessions can resume, suitable risk assessments will be in place.
