Piano for Pleasure

Wiltshire

I am a qualified piano and keyboard teacher with an Honours degree in Music and a PGCE with music specialism. I passed Grade 8 piano with Distinction. I have over 30 years experience teaching children, teenagers and adults, both privately and in schools. I am a member of the Incorporated Society of Musicians and an Approved Provider for the Wiltshire music Education Hub. I am happy to prepare students for Associated Board and Trinity exams, if they wish to do so, in which my pupils have a 100% pass rate, with the majority achieving Distinction. I believe students are most likely to achieve their potential when activities are challenging and enjoyable, and learning takes place in a positive and supportive atmosphere. My lessons are carefully planned and sequenced with the student’s musical development in mind, enabling them to explore and enjoy a variety of experiences and progress as musicians. I keep students engaged by lessons that are well-paced and practical, including a variety of activities to sustain interest and meet the needs of individuals with different abilities and learning styles. Music has brought me great pleasure throughout my life and my foremost aim is to pass that on to my students.

What do you love most about your job?

I love turning someone's dream of playing piano into a reality, and passing on my love of music to new students.

What inspired you to start your own business?

I was employed by Wiltshire Music Service as a peripatetic music teacher. When the Music Service was disbanded I wanted to keep going with the job I loved, so continued on a self employed basis.

Why should our clients choose you?

* I offer excellent qualifications and experience
* My results and retention rates are high
* I am versatile and seek to teach each student in the way that suits them best
* I will make the learning experience fun and rewarding

Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.

I am equipped to teach remotely and have been using this method with several students since the first lockdown in March 2020. I use a variety of platforms to suit the student, including Zoom, Skype and FaceTime.

What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?

My teaching space is well ventilated and can be approached without entering my house. I teach on a keyboard while my students play my piano, placed at a 2 meter distance. I sanitise the piano and leave 5 minute breaks between students. I am happy to use a face mask.
