New Horizons Photography

Lincolnshire

New Horizons Photography are experienced professional photographers offering a wide range of superb photographic services. But above all we offer the very best in customer care.... What we are truly passionate about is "thrilling" our customers. This is why we do photography - we LOVE to make customers delighted and happy with what we do. Photography is all about the memories it leaves you with - it is "freezing" a special moment in time and being able to "hold it" forever, and enjoy it over and over again, share with children, grandchildren, friends, and so on. So if you are not for any reason thrilled with the results, we will happily redo the shoot again free of charge and make sure that you become extremely happy. It does happen occasionally that a young child cuts a new tooth on the morning of a shoot, and is unbearably unhappy, or dreadful weather makes everyone utterly miserable and spoils the shoot. We simply arrange to do it again (of course if it is a wedding we will always have studio equipment and a "Plan B" for the day). We could tell you that we have the very best available camera, lighting and printing equipment - and WE DO - but would rather tell you that our desire is to make you happy with great memories that will last a lifetime. New Horizons Photography offer a full range of Personal and Corporate Professional Photography Services, including Portraiture, Events, Commercial, Weddings, Architectural, Schools, and so on. We cover all "New Horizons" - new babies, new partners, new business ventures, and new futures. We would be very happy to discuss with you what we can do for you, and to show you examples of our work. We very much look forward to hearing from you.

What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?

That depends on the type of photograph. For people photography it is mostly about expression and naturalness. Location and back drop are also important (you don't want branches or telegraph poles sticking out of your subjects' heads), though you can have the best location in the world, but if you can't connect with your subjects and get them relaxed, you don't have a photograph. Light source and direction are also important as you don't want shadows in the wrong places on faces.

For architectural and commercial photography, it is more about the technical side, and the client's objectives - what they want to achieve with the photograph. For example, does it need to have a particular marketing message? For this kind of photography we have technical (movements) camera equipment for straightening verticals and ordering perspective, coupled with a huge 80 mega pixel digital back to capture tons of information and tonality. Lighting is also more critical with this genre as individual features need to be highlighted and made to stand out. Different light types need to be matched (for example daylight and fluorescent) - and we have a wide range of different light types - flash and continuous, light balancing filters and so on - not to mention huge poles to put them on!

What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?

The main question is what "outputs" they want from the photography. Why do they want the photos and what do they want to do with them? The answer to this question totally affects the shooting style. For example, though this might sound strange, if we are shooting for a wedding album, we shoot entirely different shots than if we are shooting for a DVD for customers to print from themselves. When shooting for an album, we shoot with page layout in mind, whereas we shoot something "to be framed" if shooting for a DVD. Similarly, with commercial photography, what the client wants to do with the images completely affects the planning of the project. This all gets discussed and planned before the shoot ever starts.

Secondly we need to know what will make our customers really happy and delighted - as that is what we are about.

Thirdly, we need to understand the budget for the project as we will then tailor the services to fit what our customers want to spend.

What do you love most about your job?

In a nutshell, making customers really happy and delighted. Winning customers for life, and helping them achieve what they want. Of course we are in business to make a living - we have children to feed and bills to pay like anyone else - but we would truly rather make less profit and have a thrilled customer who will come back to us, and also recommend us to others.

We will always try and work with customers' budgets and objectives.

What inspired you to start your own business?

Being in control of our own destiny - deciding what we wanted to do, and when. We like working for ourselves rather than for others, and being able to take time out to do things we want to do. For example we have just returned from a month-long photo tour of China. We have hundreds or thousands of stunning images that we can use for all kinds of things - but importantly we were able to do this as and when we wanted to.

Why should our clients choose you?

Our mission statement is to "thrill all our customers with everything we do". We are aiming to make you happy, and not just "take the money and run". We will do everything we can to achieve that, including re-shooting on the very rare occasions we need to.

We are ethical - we will not "rip you off", but will give a fair price for the work and skill involved. You may find a student or A level pupil who will do the work a bit cheaper, but they won't have the level of equipment and experience that we have, and probably won't have any spares. We aim to produce high end results in everything we do. We use similar rates for our time as other professional service providers like plumbers, plasterers, tilers and the likes.

New Horizons Photography are a professional caring organisation. We also carry all the insurances and safeguards that public venues will require. Because we work with children frequently we also all have (recently renewed) Enhanced DBS Police Checks.

Please give us a call and we will explain more (01673 862317) or text "PHOTO" to 07741401151 and we will call you. We look forward to speaking with you soon!
