There are a million different scenarios when taking photographs, so there's no "one secret to taking a great photograph."
Every situation is unique, every Customer is unique, and every commission is unique. I find out what my Customers want, what the photographs will be used for, the logistics of the shoot and any other considerations I need to take into account. Then, I'll be in the best position to supply my Customer with exactly what they want.
I would like as much information as possible about what they want.
As there's such a wide range of possible scenarios with photography, my questions will be based on the type of photography wanted.
I love photography! Working to produce the best possible images for my Customers. I still love downloading the images from a shoot to my computer and getting excited as I scroll through them. I also love helping people, and will always try and go the "extra mile" (or kilometre).
When I've finished photographing people, especially shy, nervous, or people who are not confident; when they say something along the lines of "actually, I really enjoyed that" it confirms the way I work with people, my professionalism and my relaxed and friendly manner were just perfect for them.
Blimey, that's a long time ago now, but for most of my life, I've worked in and around the photographic industry. I wanted to be my own boss, to be able to decide how to work, rather than being told how to work.
