One day they may be hanging out with their new furry friends in Hyde Park. The next it’s going for a walk around one of the up and coming suburbs, or simply seeing a different side to the city. With the help of an expert pet sitter, your pet will get to enjoy the London life that they know and love. And maybe even see some new parts of it too in the meantime!

What do you like about being a pet sitter?

Londoners often have to juggle a busy city life with looking after their pet. I love being able to help people get the best of both worlds. They can enjoy what London has to offer, while I look after their pets to make sure that they aren’t lonely. I’m a big animal lover and had lots of different pets growing up. Being a pet sitter works really well for me as it means that I can spend time with a variety of animals on a regular basis. Many of the pets who I look after I’ve been minding for a few years now. So I’ve built up a relationship with them and their owners. The pets are comfortable staying with me, which makes being separated from their owners easier as they’re with someone that they’re used to and know.

Why did you become a pet sitter?

I’ve always loved animals, particularly dogs, and thought that becoming a pet sitter would be a great way of spending time with them on a regular basis. I can easily arrange sitting around my family commitments, which means that it’s a great fit for my life. Plus, I can often bring my own dogs, Lexi and Marley, along with me as they love meeting new friends. As a job, it works really well for me. I love what I do, and actually enjoy going to work each day.

What’s your favourite part of the job?

My favourite part of my day is when I take the dogs on a long walk out of the city. There’s some great country walks not far from the capital, and it’s so nice to get away from the hustle and bustle. One of my favourite walks to go on is in Epping Forest. It’s a great place to go on a clear day when you’re wanting a nice long walk to stretch your legs. There’s loads of room for the dogs to run around, which they always love. You can walk by the lake where they can play in the water, or explore the forest which is great for sniffing out new smells.
