There's so much information flying round about what works and what doesn't - some scientifically proven, some not - but there's no denying that if you don't look after your body, it will show.
Here are the key nutrition principles we set out for our members to master; once you have these sorted, then you can consider the technical stuff.
- Eat Good Food. Generally, most people know what foods are 'good'; so eat them.
- Don't be afraid of any food group (sugar, sat fats, poly fats, grains). Just know when you need it and when you don't.
- Listen to your body, not your brain. Your body is much smarter than you, let it tell you whether that was the right food you just ate.
- Make it a habit and it won't be so hard. Pick a simple change and employ it day-by-day and soon it will become part of your routine (it usually takes 2 weeks of consistency to form a dietary habit)
- Seek nourishment and sustenance; not comfort or pleasure. Change the way you look at food and you will develop more control over temptations.
- Supplements.. well, that pretty much sums it up. SUPPLEMENTS are supposed to SUPPLEMENT your diet; not replace it.
Human anatomy and biomechanics are my favourite subjects, and I love to see people progress in their ability to move and be active; I see it change the way they think, look, act and feel. It's an honour to be involved in a person's journey to a better relationship with their body.
