You have to find a form of exercise that you enjoy doing and want to do! If you don't enjoy it then it's going to become a chore and it will never be a lasting change. Find something you love doing, be it walking, lifting weights, yoga, badminton or paddle boarding. It does not have to be a daily slog of dragging yourself to the gym to plod on a treadmill for an hour hating your life.

Seeing people changing week by week.

Yes, I see them physically changing as they lose fat or gain muscle or change their body shape but the most rewarding part of being a Personal Trainer is seeing people coming out of their shells.

I see mothers who have been too embarrassed to wear a bikini because of their mummy tummy discovering the confidence to rock a bikini down the beach.

I see men who have, for want of a better term, let themselves go as they focus on work. They become less stressed, they begin enjoying their life again and you see and hear how their family relationships change too as they discover there is more to life than 60 hour working weeks. They start to prioritise themselves and their families.

I see older people, who have slowly over time lost strength and mobility, come to me and tell me they walked up the stairs without using the banister for the first time in 10 years! For them this is the difference between still being self sufficient or being in a care home in the years to some.

Fitness and exercise and training is about so much more than just how you look, it's about the mental and social benefits. It's about the confidence. It's about being able to do things you never thought you would!

What inspired you to start your own business?

I worked as an employed PT for 5 years in my local leisure centre gym, I loved all of my clients and the majority of them are still with me today.
I was putting in 50-60 hour working weeks plus hours of admin at home plus wokring split shifts 6 days a week.
The gym had always been my favourite place to be, I loved training myself and I loved helping my clients.
But I was starting to get burnt out, the gym stopped being a place I loved, I was operating on auto pilot and not giving my clients the service they deserved so I made the decision limit my working hours, go self employed and move a lot of my business online.
I now have the time and energy to truly deliver to my clients, I got my passion back and have become better placed to help more and more people.
It has been a win win situation for me and my clients!
