No shouting, no humiliation just pure encouragement and belief. My best result from training with David? Completing a Sprint Triathlon when all odds were stacked against me! I can't recommend David enough, he has shown me that I can do anything with a bit of hard work! Club #28 in my self-imposed quest to "fob into them all"! Really impressive club. Looked quite small but is deceptively large once inside, includes lots of free weights and resistance machines (some of which I've never seen at any other AF clubs), cardio equipment and a fantastic range of functional training materials. Also has a good-sized studio and lots of classes on offer. Had the place to myself when I arrived, and was really impressed with the upkeep and cleanliness of the gym. This club boasts a very nice hydro massager, which I've only ever seen in the Newbury gym before. Shame I came when the club was unstaffed as I would loved to have met the team. They were very friendly via direct messaging from their Facebook page. Free parking either side, access to all 4000+ clubs worldwide, secure 24/7 access, 20% off Frankie and Benny's right next door, plentiful locked storage space and individual toilets and showers make this Anytime Fitness one to return to. I strongly recommend that locals in the Woodley area looking for a gym give this one a free trial!

An aspiring rock star well into my 20s, in 2010 I took a U-turn to study politics and economics at Sussex University – which, as it sounds, was quite the shift in trajectory!
I worked hard to achieve 1st-class honours and, as per the plan at the time, secure a position as a graduate in financial audit.
Whilst wearing a suit to work was admittedly the first time I’d ever felt like a bona fide member of society haha, the cut and thrust of corporate life wasn’t for me. Almost immediately I realised I was on the wrong path. My soul was suffering. The passionate wasn’t there. I knew I needed to change course; and, not one to procrastinate, that’s exactly what I did.
My fitness journey started in my teens. I wanted to improve my mental health & feel better about my appearance. For years, I lived the despair of feeling held back: avoiding experiences and feeling like life was on hold. Oh I’ve been there.
Finding my balance over the last 20 years has spawned a fascination with all things mind, body and self. Quick fixes – I’ve tried plenty. I’ve learned that sustainability is key, and that weights and lifestyle change can be the catalyst for great things.
In late 2016, my passion for self-improvement collided with a desire to find more meaning in my career, and GymHippie was born. I’ve never looked back. GymHippie is my purpose, my mission, and I’d love to share it with you.
