I come from a professional commercial environment, having spent 20 years working in the retail trade. I spent much of my time training and developing colleagues, running group educational IT projects, which was the most rewarding part. It inspired me to begin teaching Mathematics privately since 2015, as it was a subject I enjoyed having achieved a B on in my A’Levels. In light of the pandemic outbreak I аm accustomed tо online оr socially distant face-to-face sessions, whatever yоu prefer.
Tutoring Key stage 1 and 2 (Ages 5-11) in English and Maths. I am a qualified primary school teacher with more than 20 years’ experience in England’s education system. I have taught and tutored all stages of the primary age range in various schools specialising in Phonics, Reading, English as an Additional language and Special Educational Needs, specifically: processing needs, memory and retention challenges. I offer bespoke learning sessions tailored to each child's individual needs and interests. My experience has taught me that encouragement and patience are invaluable in every lesson. My approach is centred around the learner; it is my belief that all children are individuals with unique talents and interests that should be fostered. I take time to get to know the learner; understand their strengths and challenges, get to know parent and school views so that we can prioritise targets and achieve them in a logical order that supports rapid progress and the learner's personal goals.
I love working with children especially when I see a child becoming confident in themselves and the excitement on their faces when they finally achieve that which they thought was impossible.
Working 1:1 and in small groups gives children the confidence and ability that they almost find impossible to achieve in a class of 30 and in turn I realised the satisfaction I got from empowering children that way as compared to a whole class.
With my background and training in supporting children with Special Educational Needs, low self-confidence and self-esteem, I am extremely aware of the impact of developing a 'growth mindset' and providing a nurturing environment where children can thrive and where learning is made fun through engaging sessions. It is my belief that all children have the ability to learn. I believe in a holistic approach to education where children feel safe to make mistakes: recognise, understand and learn from them; be confident to explore new territory by understanding that learning is fun and lifelong. My lessons are focused in teaching children strategies to help them become more independent learners who can achieve their goals.
I am experienced in delivering interesting and engaging online lessons.
I have received 2 doses of vaccine against Covid-19.
