What do you love most about your job?

I have always found the process of teaching Maths fascinating. I love exploring ways in which my students understand, and sometimes misunderstand, the concepts. I strive to find new ways of clarifying their misconceptions and fast track their learning.
Over the years I helped students of all secondary ages and a wide variety of mathematical ability. Improving a grade far beyond expectation and getting a student to actually enjoy Maths and work with confidence is the best reward of my job.

What inspired you to start your own business?

In class of 30, a child can often feel forgotten and unable to get full understanding of topic or individual attention of a teacher.
After over 20 years of classroom practice I am still excited by teaching my subject and helping my students to discover their own journey through Maths. Working with students individually enables me to identify their strengths and weaknesses and using a taylor-made approach enables me to help them to bridge the gaps in their knowledge.
A comment of my current tutee reflects the power of an individual approach:
"When I first started I had little understanding and confidence in Mechanics. Just 4 weeks later, I can confidently do a range of questions."

Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.

In the current situation, I moved all my tutoring online. I use a range of platforms: Skype, Zoom, Microsoft Teams and WhatsApp as well as a physical white board. This way I have 2 or 3 lines of communication with my students. The lesson feels almost as if we were in the same room.
