We provide massage therapy and holistic wellbeing services (including bodywork, breathwork and mindfulness practices) in Leeds and Whitley Bridge. Our approach is to work with the whole person to support physical and emotional wellbeing, strengthening and deepening the connection between body and mind in order to facilitate healing and growth. Appointments are with Jeni Matthewman, holistic massage therapist and wellbeing practitioner.
Holistic massage communicates with every layer of our being. It can help us to connect with our body, release pain and tension, nourish and revitalise our spirit, calm and clear our mind, and restore and replenish our energy. More than anything, touch therapy communicates directly with our nervous system to reduce stress and anxiety, which is so needed in today's society. There's nothing better then enabling someone to really get in touch with their own body, to relax fully and to leave feeling lighter and more spacious in both body and mind.
I work with a wide range of people, from those experiencing stress and anxiety or living with chronic pain and injury, to those who simply want a relaxing massage and some time for themselves. My approach concentrates on creating the space for healing to take place naturally, with a particular focus on releasing tension and restoring nervous system functioning.
Each person is unique, and so each massage is personalised to your specific needs on any particular day. Throughout each session I work mindfully but deeply with the whole myofascial system to find and relieve areas of pain and discomfort, using a combination of carefully selected techniques to leave you feeling spacious, integrated and free. These are complemented by breathwork, visualisation and mindfulness practices which are designed to raise physical awareness, deepen and strengthen the connection between body and mind. I also work on a metaphysical level, which considers how our emotions and experiences may impact upon our bodies without us even realising.
I trained with the Bristol College of Massage and Bodywork and hold a Level 4 Diploma in Holistic Massage, awarded by the Massage Training Institute. My training included in-depth study of anatomy, pathology and physiology. I am registered with the Massage Training Institute (MTI) and the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (the national regulatory bodies for massage and bodywork). I am also an Associate Tutor on the teaching staff at the Bristol College of Massage and Bodywork. I am fully insured, DBS-checked, follow the MTI code of ethics, have regular supervision, and invest in continuous professional development to support my learning and practice.
