As a coach I work both holistically and practically with people and help them get out of their own way, emotionally grow and gain more clarity and fulfilment in their lives. I help people to help themselves. Helping people to gain a new perspective and set a solid foundation to make real sustainable change. This all begins with proving a safe space to share, meeting someone where they are emotionally and taking it from there.

Hi, I'm Andrew Horder. I believe we all have not just a right to find joy in our work, but even a duty! That makes my entire life a quest to bring my value to the world from a place of ease and grace and joyfulness - and to help others to do the same ... What gets me out of bed in the morning ... ... ready and raring to go, is my mission to change the way we think about work. It really doesn't have to be that thing we are forced to go and do to earn the money that allows us to follow our passion in our 'real life'. We've been led to believe that in this reality it's only pop stars and footballers that get to do what they are naturally brilliant at, that they absolutely love doing, and they get handsomely paid for - but that's RUBBISH! We can all have it all - and I'm on a mission to show you how! Like so many people, I reached my late thirties feeling "there has to be more to life than this!" - I was earning good money in a good job, driving around the country in my posh car, meeting generally nice people and selling them stuff, but I knew that wasn’t going to be enough for me for very much longer. So I decided that moving up the management ladder was the answer. I signed up for a degree to learn all about how business works, and I worked my socks off for a few years – while studying 10-20hrs a week I also changed jobs three times, each time getting more responsibility. And more pressure. In 2002 I graduated in an amazing experience at Ely Cathedral in front of my very proud family – I had my Masters in Business Administration, my MBA - Yaaay! But inside I was still struggling - in 2003 I was stuck in a job I hated, that was making me physically and mentally ill, where I had no alignment with what my bosses wanted me to do for them – and to clients! I felt that I had no purpose in life – I was just drifting along, dead inside, hoping that somehow it would all come right. Eventually it got so bad that I could hardly eat properly, I was dreading every day in the office, I felt like thumping my boss most of the time. I had to get out of there. So I took redundancy, to get back to a life with a purpose. And I soon found myself back in a similar position – in 2006 the job was better, the boss was a bit less of a bully, I was even driving a nicer car. But I was still floundering, still asking myself “Is this is all there is?” Then, through a friend, I got onto the self-development path – I spent literally tens of thousands of pounds on courses to help me find my place in life – courses about finding my destiny, overcoming the blocks I put in my way, NLP & coaching skills, and even how to put it all together in a sound business structure. And I tried several businesses – working for myself, with partners, and for other people. But somehow it was still not quite coming together – and I found myself losing a couple of big clients, my main business was failing, and I was rapidly running out of money! What Changed? I took a step back, and looked at what I had learned. I re-visited something I had done years before, something that told me the one thing I had been doing all my life, whenever it’s all been going amazingly well. I learned my Core Process – “Encouraging Potential”. And I took it a step further, to understand not only What I do when I’m at my best, but also Why and just as importantly, How I do it best. Afterwards, I remember saying to my mentor something like “Wow! If we could get everybody doing what they are brilliant at, and that they love to do, wouldn’t the world be such better place! Yes, that’s exactly what someone needs to do to get the world out of this mess we’re all in.” And he looked at me and very gently asked: “Why not you?” Gulp!! That’s when I started to truly apply the fundamental principles that I include in all my coaching programmes (or 'adventures' as I prefer to call them!) - and now I’ve never been happier … I get to get up in the morning ready to do what I do best – Encouraging Potential all over the place! In all honesty, it’s not been an easy ride. I’ve made plenty of mistakes along the way, spent silly amounts of money (just ask the financial controller!) on stuff that just didn’t work, or maybe I just didn’t put it into practice. And I lost my way a few times too – lost my focus on the real purpose of my life - using my Joyful Genius. But now I get to spend my time working with exciting and committed individuals, who know they can make a real difference in the world. All they need is a bit of the pragmatic approach to business I picked up on my MBA, and someone to re-ignite their passion for what they do, so they no longer feel they have to hold back from stepping into their own magnificence! They get to discover their Core Process, the What of their brilliance, the work they love to do and can make a great living at. Plus their Core Purpose, the big Why, the thing that gets them out of bed every morning, raring to go, ready to make their difference. And finally their Core Practice – the How, the simple, pragmatic, day-to-day things they can do to make truly living their Joyful Genius just so much easier and more fun!
I love those moments where a client suddenly sees and steps up to the genius that other people see in them, really steps into their genius, and so gains the courage to step out into the world with it with clarity, congruency and confidence. Helping people go from miserable, frustrated or poor to joyful, fulfilled AND properly rewarded is such a buzz!
After a successful corporate career I wanted to take charge of my own destiny, and to open up possibilities for people who were also unfulfilled in their work. When one of my mentors challenged me to use my Core Process, En-couraging Potential, to change how we think about the world of work, I realised it was time to put my coaching skills and experience to use, and Step Up to being a coach.
I use a variety of coaching styles, depending on the client's needs. With some, it's a highly practical approach, and with others it can be much more intuitive - some might even say a bit woo-woo (I do use some energetic and healing modalities, with the clients for whom that will be of service). With some it's "pure coaching", asking questions and allowing you to discover your own answers, with others I draw more on the more 'directive' style from my business coaching and offer specific suggestions. We agree upfront what style will most be of service to you - and I find that often changes as the coaching relationship progresses, always guided by how best you can achieve your objectives. My long-term clients love me - although my aim is always to help you make a positive shift within the first six sessions.
