I'm a professional children's book author and illustrator based in Salisbury, UK with over 10 years experience working in this sphere. I have a BA in Fine Art & Mural painting. My training is in the use of traditional techniques (such as watercolour, pencil, pen & ink, oils and acrylics) but I am also skilled and use Adobe Photoshop daily in my work. I have illustrated over 15 books and worked on many other design projects such as labels, posters, maps and product designs.

I'm a pet and wildlife artist, working mostly in soft pastels I enjoy their versatility and tactile nature. Combined with textured surfaces they help to forge a physical connection with the piece, enabling sculpting and layering to bring movement and life into a piece. With a notable focus on colour and vibrancy I am often drawn to quirky compositions, but also to the engaging expressions and postures which truly characteristic a species.
Hi! I'm a self-taught Illustrator. My focus is book cover illustration of various categories such as fiction, non-fiction, young adult books, fantasy and more. I also accept projects within the subject of background illustration, house portraits, urban old town, special places, homely and village settings. I've been commissioning and taking on various projects solo for the passed 5 years including designing prints and greeting cards. To get a better understanding of my subject of design please enjoy visiting my online portfolio below, and follow me on instagram: @al.designs_ I look forward to working with you (=
It brings out very best side of me! Knowing that the more I put myself out there, the better I become. It's a strong reminder that this is what I was born to do, and if I wish do it everyday I need to keep pushing.
To meet new people in the industry and who share a love for art and uniqueness. To make a difference in someone's life including my own. To one day be apart of a project bigger than myself with an overwhelming outcome.
I like the idea of creating my own sense of security. Manifesting what my life would look like working alongside other creative people & completing a meaningful project for a wonderful client warms my heart. Having a job that doesn't feel like a job because I love what I do so much. Even with the challenges I face, I embrace it because I worked hard to get to this point.
I'm as cool as a cucumber, easy to communicate with, I'll always get back to you, I make things simple which can be very helpful to as lot off people including myself, I set standards as do my clients I'm sure which I respect. I'm honest from the start and by choosing me we will both be giving a gift to the world by supporting small businesses, and opening my art with the world. Given the chance.

Minor but still important changes were made during Covid-19 when orders were being sent via post. All physical products were packaged with a hard-board backing and clean clear wallets to maintain the quality of the prints including reducing any cross contamination.
Before a meet and greet with a client new or current I myself will always take an LFT the day before. This is for meetings in person of course. I may also request that clients complete a form showing when they have recently tested for COVID-19. Many thanks
