As directors of St Patrick Healthcare, we both have over 20 years experience in General and Mental Health Nursing. After working so many years in healthcare, we discovered that some staff lacked the skills that are required working as a carer and working in large organisations like the NHS it was not easy to tailer certain attitudes and skills to suit the service users. In many cases it was about providing , 'a body' to cover a shift and not necessarily having the right person for the job. Many people were not treated with kindness and compassion in their day-to-day care and support. We decided to embark on a journey to start St Patrick Healthcare since we shared the same sentiments of care and compassionate for the public and our service users. We needed to make sure that people, and those close to them, feel they matter, and that staff listen to them and talk to them appropriately and in a way they can understand.
We needed to help service users to seek accessible ways to communicate with people when their protected and other characteristics under the Equality Act to reduce or remove barriers.
We agreed to support staff to know and respect the people they are caring for and supporting, including their preferences, personal histories, backgrounds and potential.
We want to provide care with care staff that show concern for people's wellbeing in a caring and meaningful way, and respond to their needs quick enough.
We want staff to understand and promote compassionate, be respectful and show empathetic behaviour within the staff team.
We are a unique organisation with vast amounts of experience, knowledge and skills. We are flexible, available and always there when needed. We got ourselves registered so that we could be regulated by CQC so that we provide the best service to our service users and their families. We are open and transparent with our service users and their families. We are willing to learn and we learn from our mistakes.
We do provide telephone support and we are open to new things. St Patrick Healthcare is flexible and always there to help if needed.
