Our rental property had fallen into disrepair and needed renovation quickly in order to get it back onto the market for new tenants. There were all sorts of problems and challenges which Tom used his technical expertise, materials knowledge and artistic flair to find the best, cost-effective and often unique ways to solve. He accepted the job after only seeing photos of the property which meant he didn’t have the best opportunity to prepare beforehand and often had to make decisions on the job as to what was most important and how to do things in order to finish on time. I am posting before and after photos so you can see some of the work. He painted the walls and ceilings (fixing the ceiling in the back bedroom and plastering and sanding various areas); hand-painted the skirting and coving in the living room, panels in the utility room and also the stair rails to look like wood; and put fresh coats on a lot of the woodwork, radiators and front door (which he also fixed). Boxes needed to be replaced over pipe work, the meter box and the bath needed to be fixed and the washing machine needed plumbed in. He put new wallpaper and flooring in the kitchen and utility room and added hand-painted trim and shelves. He moved a kitchen cabinet, aligned the cooker to the work surfaces, changed the doors of the fridge freezer to open the other way and added painted quadrant under the windows. These changes which might not have been obvious to everyone or even considered necessary, in fact safely allowed room for a table, generally made the room seem bigger and brighter and made the kitchen much easier and nicer to use. He selected and correctly fitted a shower rail, mirror, loo roll holder (that also doubles as a very useful mobile phone holder!), and towel rail so that the bathroom was ready to use. He changed old wall lights for new ones which could be switched on independently of each other and the main light - another thoughtful detail that changed the way the room looked and felt as well as being more versatile and pleasant to use. Tom brought all his tools for the job and provided receipts for the materials he needed as soon as the work was finished. The agents who had seen the property before Tom’s renovation were shocked by how he had transformed it so quickly and were delighted to be ready to find new tenants to move in. We however wanted to stay in it ourselves and not rent it out to anyone! Nick has done various Jobs in my new flat since i moved in . Putting lights up inside and out, fixed a wonky tap, hung pictures, fitted new letterbox and changed a door lock. These where all done in a proffesional and caring manner.
