I am an experienced full time guitar tutor with over 15 years experience. I am based in Penwortham on the edge of Preston but also teach via Skype to students all over the country and around the world. I teach acoustic and electric guitar and cover a large variety of styles so you can learn guitar to your favourite music, as long as its not dance; dub step isn't so easy on guitar!

I've been having lessons with Wayne for the past 4 years. I've always been a shy person but Wayne creates a comfortable environment and is super easy to get on with. Wayne's lessons are always enjoyable and I get to to choose my own songs to learn. He is a great teacher and I would highly recommend him to anyone who is wanting to learn to play guitar.

I'd been messing about on my recorder most of my life but never with much commitment. Now retired, I have found several outlets for this and needed some proper direction. Liz Nightingale is patient, thorough and makes sure I am challenged every week. She has shown me a different genre of music besides folk and classical: swing, and all this alongside a constant feed of theory. I'm delighted with the school and look forward to my weekly session. Daily practice is something I can look forward to.

Rimmer's is the sort of music store that offers customers a wealth of selection in many instruments, ranging from traditional ones like guitar and pianos to more unusual ones like harmonicas and mandolins. The overall atmosphere in the shop isn't as comfortable or as personal as smaller, independent music shops, like nearby Quicksilver Music for example, but they make up for this by having such a large range of instruments for sale there.Their prices are pretty competitive there and the staff are quite friendly and approachable whilst being happy to offer you some advice if you're not sure what you're looking for. They're also happy to let you try before you buy, just don't go playing the intro to Stairway to Heaven anytime soon as it's a bit of a faux pas in music shops. It might not have the charming appeal of smaller places like Quicksilver or Wesley Music but if it's a good selection of products that you're looking for, then Rimmer's should be your first port of call. They also offer guitar tuition if you're daunted by the prospect of learning an instrument on your own.

I went in there with very minor experience. I had lessons when I was 14 and did not gel with my previous tutor. 13 years later I decided to take it up again and Eric helped me establish a better understanding. I learnt a few simple songs within a matter of weeks (Burning Love, Hurt and Over My Head (Cable Car). He helped me with positioning, tempo and helped me work on finger picking which I found incredibly difficult. Absolute sound guy who made it very enjoyable. I have since moved from Blackburn which is a shame but we have stayed in touch and I'm forever asking him for tips and advice.
