Having yearned to play the UKULELE since a kid in Sydney, the first step was to buy a decent one. This I did on a trip to Honolulu a couple of years ago. The second step was to locate, over here, a really good teacher. Having spoken to a number of them, who focus on stringed instruments, none taught the ukulele. ENTER JIM ALLGROVE. From my very first lesson, I was truly hooked. Jim's particular style of tuition is, to my mind, unbeatable. He is cool, calm & collected ... never demanding nor stroppy ... and quick to give praise & encouragement. From the expressions on the faces of his other pupils, coming & going, clutching guitars, banjos, piano accordians etc., they too take delight in their lessons from Jim. Now, I am buying better & better ukes., growing my repertoire and even being asked to perform at charity fundraisers like the RNLI. I look forward, with relish, to continue well into the future, under Jim's tuition. I can recommend him, without reservation. unreservably.derably.

A hidden gem of a music shop tucked away down a back street you will have to check opening times to catch it open I think the owners probably work full time somewhere else to help fund keeping the store open as they obviously don't make enough to keep it open full time it's more of a helpful hobbies shop than a highly profitable business

INSPIRING STUDENTS, FULFILLING ASPIRATIONS Inspired Guitar School’s mission is to teach guitar-playing to students of all capabilities by taking them on a musical journey that showcases the versatility of guitars and their role in different musical genres offering lessons to individuals, groups, and particularly schools. Inspire Music School encourages the performance of all musical styles, matching the instrument and sound to the student for maximum pleasure – this way students will be inspired to learn.
I have had an interest in music as long as I can remember, but it is the guitar that interests me most. Yes, it’s a great instrument made famous by the rock bands of the past four decades, however the guitar is truly an incredible instrument; it offers a rich variety of sounds, and the different types of guitar have an expressive palette of timbre – it’s great performed solo as well as making a great companion to any music.
I studied music at one of the UK’s leading universities for music, Royal Holloway University, part of the University of London, culminating in a Master of Music with distinction in 2016. Now, I teach guitar-playing to children and adults; compose music for films; and perform with several rock and worship bands.
In playing the guitar, I have found my passion, and in teaching guitar I have found my vocation. I can take beginners to Grade 8 competence, and help experienced players to perfect their technique and explore new musical styles building upon my own musical journey which has seen me teach with great contemporary guitar musicians such as Classical Guitarist Abigail James and taught by Electric Guitarist Nick Hollings.
My teaching style works well with single students of any age and with groups, and I have had great success with teaching. I have guided students through their graded exams and seen them develop an unbreakable bond with music. No two students are the same and so I adopt a flexible style to suit the student to fulfil their aspirations.
I find teaching extremely rewarding and my passion and enthusiasm for the guitar will inspire and help you to realise your goals.
