I started guitar classes with Steve in March after a break of several decades. He is excellent at finding the right music to push me(gently) to the next level. He has a superb range of music that he suggests and when I suggest something he can always produce it. I am really enjoying playing the guitar again, greatly due to his encouragement. I would not hesitate to recommend him as a teacher for all ages. Gerda Bennett

I'm delighted to offer a reference for your teaching, for which I am most thankful.
Steve first took me as a pupil in the middle of 2008. Up until then I had been a typical self-taught guitarist for about 25 years, and really I needed to have a much better understanding of the basics of what I was doing, in order to improve, whilst recognising that family and business commitments would limit the time I had available. Over the last two years Steve has completely changed the way I feel about guitar and the way I go about practice and preparation, and I intend to build on this with his help. I now enjoy playing far more than I ever realised I could, and I have no hesitation in recommending anyone to seek out Steve's help regardless of their current level, from beginner to advanced.
Based on years of experience I provide fun tuition in classical and contemporary styles of guitar and piano - whether you just want to learn for fun, learn that song you love or are serious about taking grades, I can get you playing what you want! Lessons available for ages 7 to 99!

I have been having lessons with Paul for nearly 2 years now and when I first came to him I was a struggling guitarist who had plateaued. Now I am playing some really cool stuff. I have learnt how to improvise around the 12 bar blues with a good level of confidence and have composed some of my own solos. I have also learnt how to play how to play folk guitar in the styles of: Bert Jansch, Woody Guthrie and Bob Dylan. Paul teaches me how to play whatever music I want and I always look forward to our next lesson. He has extensive knowledge of different musical genres and teaches me with immense patience and enthusiasm. He knows how to bring out the best in me and has transformed my guitar playing. I am so thankful. I can’t recommend Paul highly enough!

Having yearned to play the UKULELE since a kid in Sydney, the first step was to buy a decent one. This I did on a trip to Honolulu a couple of years ago. The second step was to locate, over here, a really good teacher. Having spoken to a number of them, who focus on stringed instruments, none taught the ukulele. ENTER JIM ALLGROVE. From my very first lesson, I was truly hooked. Jim's particular style of tuition is, to my mind, unbeatable. He is cool, calm & collected ... never demanding nor stroppy ... and quick to give praise & encouragement. From the expressions on the faces of his other pupils, coming & going, clutching guitars, banjos, piano accordians etc., they too take delight in their lessons from Jim. Now, I am buying better & better ukes., growing my repertoire and even being asked to perform at charity fundraisers like the RNLI. I look forward, with relish, to continue well into the future, under Jim's tuition. I can recommend him, without reservation. unreservably.derably.

Hi there, My name is Wayne and I’ve played guitar for over 20 years, am a registered guitar tutor with the London College of Music, University of West London, RSL, and a Grade 8 electric guitarist. I’ve gigged extensively around London over the past 10 years and also play bass and drums, though primarily focus on guitar. I’m also fully DBS checked and a registered tutor with firsttutors.com where you can check out my reviews. I’ve been in many bands, some good, some bad, some extremely ugly and you can check out some of my more tolerable tracks at my website, or take a peek at a few vids. I've been teaching extensively over the past 7 years, and the last 5 years full time. Generally I teach 1-2-1, but have also undertaken group and paired lessons in the past, and can accommdoate if desirable. Currently I'm teaching most of my students online due to the rather unfortunate situation! I teach all guitar related styles, but like to let the pupils' taste dictate. So if you're into pop, rock, metal, funk or slow acoustic ballads, it's all grand! I look forward to hearing from you! Take care, Wayne
That it doesn't really feel like a job, it's just playing the guitar, which is what I'd be doing even if I weren't teaching. And of course meeting lots of new people along the way.
My passion for the guitar, playing and teaching and doing something I enjoy for a living.
So if you're a beginner who's stuck in a rut and doesn't know how to progress or understand that video you're watching on YouTube, then save yourself time and learn from someone who's been there!
Having fun whilst playing is imperative to stay motivated, so I aim to structure lessons around what you want to learn or a style you aspire to. However if you want to let me guide you, I'm more than happy to do choose a path that I think will work best for you.
In general, I try to split learning into 5 sections: Technique – Repertoire – Theory – Improvisation – Composition. There's a lot of overlap between them of course, but it helps to know what you're focusing on at any given time to help put it into a wider learning context.
I can teach all RGT, RSL, Rockschool and Trinity syllabuses, which give great structure to your learning and offer you the opportunity to take graded exams.
Of course, if you just wanted to learn a few of your favorite Oasis songs on the acoustic, I'm completely cool with that too :)
