I have always had a passion for gardens which was only aided by a very keen gardening grandfather and a farming father. I was always growing things as a child and this I have managed to continue doing into adult life. I didn't see a career in gardening as I grew up and studied. I ended up becoming a police officer a career which has managed to run side by side with building up Goldenstones gardening. As a young man I found myself working shifts which allowed me to do 3-4 days a week gardening. From that first advert I placed in the local town magazine I picked up some customers that I still have the privilege of working for from 2002. The business has grown and we now employ 4 full time gardeners and a team of skilled guys who are able to complete any landscaping project within a garden. We pride ourselves on "Trust" It is very important to me from my years of policing that my guys can be trusted in whatever garden I send them into. We are a member of the Gloucestershire "Buy with confidence" scheme. a scheme that is run by trading standards and requires a full and thorough examination of working practices along with CRB checks of all staff. THe sense of achievement. It is great to actually achieve something and taking on tasks within a garden allows this to happen. Whether it be clearing an overgrown bed, pruning a fogottten shrub, fixing a cotswold stone wall or laying a patio you finish work knowing that you have achieved something. Seeing a result to a hard days work fills me with a great sense of satisfaction and achievement.
I fell into it, I always had a passion for gardening, when I was a Policeman I would have lots of time off during the week. I felt I was too young to take up golf so opted to place an advert in the Nailsworth News to keep me busy and help with the Mortgage payments. The business has developed year on year allowing me to leave the police force to focus on the business.
