I have a nervous rescue Lurcher, who usually comes to work with me, but I needed to find someone who could look after him approx. twice a month when I go to London for work. I contacted Liza as I saw on her website that she is an experienced Sighthound owner, with a nervous Lurcher of her own, so I knew that she would understand him. She spent a couple of hours with us at our first meeting, taking all the details that she needed, getting to know Dan and discussing with us how many visits we felt he would need and how long each visit should be - Liza has been very flexible on this and is happy to tweak this to suit him though. When we walked him around the block together at our first meeting and Dan started barking at a Spaniel that he saw, Liza had him on the lead and I saw how brilliantly she dealt with it and it was exactly how I wanted her to - she had complete understanding for Dan and knew that he was not being aggressive, but was just scared of the other dog and warning him not to come any closer. I knew at that point that Dan would be well looked after with Liza. Liza also has the patience of a saint, as has been proved with how patient she has been with Dan. On the first three occasions that she came to walk him, he firstly hid from her, then progressed to sitting next to her to take treats and finally on the fourth occasion, he felt confident enough to go out for a walk with her. Dan is very nervous of new people, but Liza has been so patient with him, never rushing him and letting him take the time he needed to gradually get to know her. Liza has also offered to pop in to say hello to Dan on occasions when she has been in Highworth and has met us for a walk with her own dog once at a weekend, all to help Dan to get to know her and to feel comfortable with her. I really appreciate the time that she has put in to get to know both him and us, and I know that she loves him as much as we do. On the days that Liza looks after Dan, she sends me regular updates throughout the day with photos so that I know how he is getting on, which is great, as it is exactly what I need and I don't need to feel guilty for contacting her throughout the day, as she contacts me instead! Liza has also shown that she knows exactly what to do in an emergency, which is very reassuring - on one occasion when she arrived to take Dan for a walk, she found one of my cats collapsed in the lounge and having an epileptic fit (not something that had ever happened before). Liza dealt with this situation brilliantly and rushed our cat straight to the vets, which I am quite sure, saved her life as it was a particularly serious and prolonged fit. Liza is also very flexible, which I am grateful for, as although most of my work trips to London are planned well in advance, sometimes they are sprung on me at short notice and Liza has always been happy to take late bookings from me. She also always keeps me fully informed with lots of notice, of days when she is fully booked and would not be able to look after Dan, if I needed her to on that particular date. We are moving soon, only a short distance away, but to an area that Liza does not normally cover, but she is going to continue to look after Dan for us, which is great as it will give Dan the stability that he needs to have the same person looking after him. It is also great to know that Liza is always completely honest about how her visits have been - a friend commented recently that some dog walkers tell you that everything has been fine, even if it hasn't been, but Liza has always been completely honest and I am really grateful for this. It is great to see that my nervous dog is so comfortable and happy with her. I would recommend Liza 100% to anyone who is looking for someone to look after their beloved pets, I trust her completely!
