Scotty's Dog Walking & Services

Hi all, I’m Scotty! Thanks for looking at my dog walking & services page! I am currently providing home drop-ins and solo dog walks (group walks only if multiple dogs from the same household or local dogs that have been well socialised together in advance) in and around the Ashby-de-la-Zouch area. So, what makes me different?... I will ALWAYS put your dog(s) first. Sounds logical, right?... All dog walkers should say this; however, I practice what I preach… I have undertaken a Canine First Aid course through the IMDT and ensure to carry a rucksack full of the required first aid measures on each of my walks. I’ll always undertake a no obligation meet-and-greet to ensure both parties are happy with the services to be provided; this will also enable me to understand your needs, to tailor my services to suit your dog(s). I addition, I am fully insured & DBS checked (please ask if you wish to see or know the certificate number - I will also provide the proof of these during any meet-and-greets). I use some of my time working with two local dog charities: - I am a part of the training school for the first charity, helping to set up and assist with their puppy & adolescent training classes (and 1:1 classes). Within the classes I provide owners with assistance, feedback & tips to ensure they get the most from each training session. - For the second charity, I am a kennel companion for the dogs within their care; ensuring to put the dogs at ease within the new, potentially stressful environment (you may sometimes see photos of these dogs on my social channels). I rescued my own dog from one of these charities back in 2018 and am a huge advocate for “adopt don’t shop”, hence dedicating time to volunteer at two local charities. In addition to the volunteer work, I am undertaking courses through the IMDT (Institute of Modern Dog Trainers) to become an accredited dog trainer (this service will be added once my accreditation is complete), and in future will look to further expand my services to also include dog behaviour therapy! I provide my current services to the Ashby-de-la-Zouch and surrounding areas. If you’re interested but are unsure whether I’ll cover your area or not, please feel free to contact me and I’ll do my best to support you! I really look forward to meeting you and your dog(s)!

What do you love most about your job?

I love interacting with various breeds and personalities of dog. They're all so unique and have so much character!

What inspired you to start your own business?

Honestly, I was in a corporate job for ~10 years after graduating; but it didn't bring me any real happiness, and did add a lot of stress!
I asked myself the cliche question "What would you do if you won the lottery?", and the answer was working with dogs!
I want to also work with behavioural and training dogs, so am gaining my accreditation from the Institute of Modern Dog Trainers (IMDT), to help owners who may be considering rehoming their dogs (to hopefully not need to do so) and to help those already in rescue centres (to broaden their opportunities).

Why should our clients choose you?

Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.

Training can be provided remotely, but in person is typically preferred.
