Canine Care Behaviour

I am a qualified behaviour practitioner and forensic behaviourist. I work with owners and their dogs to resolve behavioural and emotional related problems. I assess and diagnose each individual dog before formulating a training plan. This enables owners to work through issues and address the root causes. My philosophy is to focus on long lasting improvements and a better understanding of canine behaviour, improving the relationship between owner and their dog, by building confidence, developing good leadership, mutual respect and strong bonds. I support clients throughout the training program to continually assess, encourage and advise them as they work through the plan. Behavioural problems that owners face may include fear and anxiety, resource guarding, aggression in all its many forms, alone issues, destructive behaviour and noise reactivity. Owners will sometimes experience additional training issues with their dogs, including but not limited to recall problems, jumping up, stealing food and general unruly behaviour as well as increasingly dog to dog related social difficulties. I work with every breed imaginable, including the Bully breeds. I have a specialism in sighthounds. I have over 30 years of experience working with dogs, including in welfare and rescue and those with extreme emotional and complex related challenges. My website and Facebook page enable owners to contact me for advice at any time. Behaviour related problems require a psychological approach because more often than not they are emotionally driven. Training involves teaching new things and while my approach does involve some training, the bits most dogs enjoy the most ! it is essential to understand what is driving unwanted behaviour and address the underlying causes first.

What do you love most about your job?

It is very satisfying to know that I am helping owners to help their dogs and in doing so stronger bonds are formed and a better understanding develops between the owner and their dog. Ultimately it’s about happier, contented and healthier dogs…..and happier owners.

I enjoy walking dogs as well. It’s a big responsibility to take care of someone else’s treasured canine companion, so safety is always paramount. Every dog that I walk is part of my dog family.

What inspired you to start your own business?

I enjoy the independence of building my own business however I couldn’t do it if I wasn’t passionate and inspired by what I do and dogs are my great passion. With a background in dog rescue I want to genuinely help and improve a dogs life…..make a difference.

Why should our clients choose you?

My work as a canine behaviour practitioner focuses on natural dog behaviour and I strive to help my clients understand and communicate with their dogs. I don’t look for a quick fix, but work towards lasting change. I am always on hand for advice and encourage owners to stay the course, knowing that they can contact me at anytime. Every dog matters.

Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.

I provide on going support through emails, phone calls and text messages to assist owners with a behavioural and training plan.
My initial assessments and consultations are done in person at a clients home or often in a familiar environment for the dog such as a park.
I am able to offer advice remotely for some clients.
