Animal Behaviour and Trauma Recovery Service

Animal Behaviour annd Trauma Recovery Service offers bespoke training and behaviour consultations specialising in dogs that are rescues, fearful or have otherwise experienced trauma. I am a Provisional Clinical Animal Behaviourist with the APBC and a Family Dog Mediator. All methods are force free, positive and relationship based. All training assessments and behaviour consultations are carried out in your own home. Training assessments are approximately 11/2 hours in length and behaviour consultations are 2-3 hours . Training assessments allow me to get to know you and your dog and draw up an initial training plan that is unique for you. Then you are supported through follow up sessions either at your home or in the park. Everything is at your dog’s pace. The training plan is updated as your dog progresses. Behaviour consultations are via veterinary referral in line with legal and regulatory requirements for a Provisional member of the APBC under the Veterinary Surgeons Act. A behaviour consultation involves my visiting you and your dog in order to obtain a full history including their early history ,general management routine , exercise and /or training regime as well as a detailed examination of the problem. It is useful to speak to the whole family and those who have regular contact with your dog such as a dog walker in order to obtain as full a picture as possible of your dog , their behaviour and your relationship . A comprehensive behaviour report , vet letter and initial training plan is included. You and your dog will be supported through out the entire process.

What do you love most about your job?

I love seeing the animals and caregivers I work with blossoming and becoming confident as their relationships deepen .whether this is for basic training, behaviour consultations or helping an animal start their recovery journey.

What inspired you to start your own business?

I was inspired to start my own business after meeting so many people having taken the rewarding step of welcoming a rescue into their home or having an animal that had a traumatic or negative experience that were struggling to manage their pet. It is this that inspired me to start my business .

Why should our clients choose you?

I offer my clients support and empathy with their pets problems and treat them all as individuals tailoring training and behaviour plans to suit. I regularly attend seminars, trainings and conferences to ensure my knowledge is fully up to date. I am particularly passionate about trauma and ptsd in dogs and horses and helping guardians to support their animals to heal and lead a full life. I have also presented at the Equine Assisted and Faciltated Practitioners Network International Conference on the rehabilitation of traumatised animals.
