Hi, My name is David and I am a therapeutic counsellor and life coach, based in a Grade 2 listed building in the centre of Newcastle upon Tyne. # PLEASE NOTE: “Bark.com” charges me to see your telephone number and email address. If you make a contact request, and unfortunately I am not available , or a good match for your requirements, please understand that I am not being discourteous if you hear nothing from me.

David has massively helped me with complex grief (I found my wife’s passing by suicide extremely difficult to process).
I had awful ‘What Ifs’, Guilt and general unhelpful thinking impacting my daily mood, work and quality of life (and possibly my sons!).
After friends & family had done their very best for me (I wore their ears out) David helped me pick my issues apart pretty quickly. I felt noticeably better in about 1month of therapy although my hard work (David said) helped a lot. I found it best to go with a list of my issues and what I wanted to achieve overall out of the work.
He helped me re-focus on a now new different life, not necessarily a worse life. I move forward with what has happened positively where I can with my son and now a new partner without daily guilt.
David is, in my opinion, a thoroughly decent Gent. Not my mate as he professionally reminds - but he’s very good at his job! I soon as I sit in the seat in his office it’s go go go with my list… you can’t do that with friends and family (not all the time anyway….) but you can with David.
After 6 to 8 sessions (approx.) it was David who suggested we start concluding. I now check in for one off ‘tune ups’ every 3 to 4 months at my request.
Life’s never perfect but it’s a lot better now after David’s help… or even damn good mostly I’d say…
Thanks again David.

⭐️ MONEY-BACK GUARANTEE: see improvement or your money back ⭐️ — “By far the BEST THERAPY I’ve had!” — “This is LIFE-CHANGING! I can honestly say I’ve not had anxiety since.” — “I’ve never found a therapist who can unpack so much in just ONE SESSION!” What is Unshaming? Instead of treating difficult emotions or “destructive” impulses as problems to fix, Unshaming views them as deep intelligence (representing subconscious awareness and unmet need) to be understood and integrated.

Wow, that was incredible! I was so nervous to come for a session because I was scared for someone to see my faults and all the things I thought were wrong with me… but it wasn’t like that at all! I never imagine what it would be; it was deep and yet so encouraging and light. It’s amazing to have a therapy that gets to the heart of how I feel so quickly. I’ve had therapy in the past where I had to talk about my history, and by the end the session I wasn’t really sure what we’d achieved! I left my first session with SJ with the most incredible revelation about myself, and a clear idea of what to do next. And it felt inspiring and fun, like I actually want to do the work because it is making me like myself more, instead of fearing and fighting against myself and the things I think are wrong with me. It made such a difference to my day the next day. I’m excited to do more! If this is what we can achieve in 50 mins, I’m excited to see what I can do if I keep exploring and connecting with myself like this.

I offer Gestalt therapy, a relational psychotherapy, which provides the possibility of growth and change, through an accepting, respectful and supportive relationship with your therapist. Gestalt therapy is suitable for a wide range of issues including anxiety or depression, the impact of past experiences or trauma, difficulties in relationships, a period of transition or change in your life, grief or loss. It's also suitable if you're interested in finding a new direction or meaning in your life. Sessions are weekly and last 50 minutes. I'm fully DBS checked and registered with UKCP: 020 •••• •••• and BPS: 206066 Please note I am only trained to work with individual adults, not children or couples.
I am passionate about the benefits of Gestalt therapy, and its potential to support us all to live fully. I get a great deal of job satisfaction from being involved in positive change for individuals. I enjoy being able to meet so many different people, and my job is always interesting.
I have been practising Gestalt therapy at Crisis, the national charity for adults experiencing homelessness, since August 2016. I've worked at Crisis since December 2006, and my current role is Wellbeing and Mental Health Manager. I started my private practice in January 2018 to meet a wider range of clients, and for the opportunity to practice long term therapy. I also enjoy the freedom of managing my own therapy room, and making it the most therapeutic space possible.
I have a masters in occupational psychology and have worked in the field of mental health and wellbeing for sixteen years. I'm a Gestalt Therapist in Senior Clinical Training, working towards accreditation as a psychotherapist through the Edinburgh Gestalt Institute. I am passionate about the possiblities for change through therapy, and find Gestalt is ideal for exploring a wide range of issues in a holistic way. I'm a compassionate, patient, creative individual, and I really enjoy my work.
I offer a free 30 minute initial consultation, which gives us an opportunity to meet, and for me to explain more about how I work and answer any questions, without commitment.
