RL Therapeutic Counselling

Avon

My name is Rhianan and I am a qualified Counsellor and Counselling Supervisor in Bristol. Seeing individuals and couples for therapy. This site charges counsellors to reply and message you so..... Please contact by direct message with your interest and availability through a website called the counselling directory by searching post code BS3 2BX. There you will find me where I have a video you can view also and can make direct contact and see full info and fees. I primarily work in counselling on Monday- Friday in person Wednesdays and Fridays or remotely other days as well as some evenings remotely (Zoom or phone) across the week-I do not work weekends. I work from Monarch house near North Street. (BS3 2BX ) I have a telephone or zoom sessions Available so location is not an issue if working from home/ remotely. I have worked with many clients with a variety of complex issues to navigate their way to where they want to be in their lives. There are no quick fixes, complex , historic turmoil that may have been held for many years need time and attention to be able to effectively work through.   I am a fully qualified counsellor with National Counselling Society membership and I am fully insured with Holistic Therapy insurance. I am a fully qualified Counselling Supervisor. Fees: One to one Counselling £40 for a 60 minute session Counselling supervision  £55 for 1.5 hours Student Counselling supervision £40 Couples therapy £60 for 1 hour and £80 for 90 minutes. Not currently offering until back face to face. Based in South Bristol  You can find full profile information about me by searching BS3 2BX in the postcode section on the Counselling Directory website or the Psychology today website- this would be the best way to make contact with me. It can be a very difficult process to seek out counselling, so many questions: does it mean there is something wrong with me? am I abnormal? am I failing? am I weak? If I start talking and opening up I may cry and never stop. in reality none of these thought patterns are true, but are you stuck in these thoughts? is this preventing you from seeking out help? I believe it is hugely brave to make the step to access therapy and I believe everyone should have counselling at some point in their life, many people carry so many stories and so many wounds that whirl around through life, do you keep them locked away? but find them seeping out in unhealthy ways? Is now the right time to seek healing through talking therapy? I work with each client as a unique individual with whatever the client wants to bring to the sessions. I have worked with a wide variety of people who have brought a wide variety of issues into the counselling room, for example: Grief/Loss/Bereavement Sexual abuse Verbal abuse Emotional abuse Physical abuse Post Natal depression Depression Loss of job Relationship breakdown Domestic violence Rape Eating disorders Addictions/Drugs/Alcohol Addictive behaviours Habit/Behaviour change Self improvement Guilt/Remorse/Shame Childhood wounds I treat each person equally and offer the same core conditions to everyone. - This is not an extensive list- I work with the person in the room rather than seeing the individual person as the issue they are bringing. On initial meeting I will contract with each new client so that a mutual agreement is met. I am a person centred counsellor using an integrative approach. Please feel free to contact me and if I am not able to assist you , I may  be able to direct you to someone that can assist  you and suit your requirements

What do you love most about your job?

What I love most about counselling is helping people to meet themselves.
I approach each session with no expectations or goals- but to accept each person as they choose to present themselves. The process happens naturally and at various paces- specific to each individual.
I have been very privileged to witness many individuals growth through therapy.

What inspired you to start your own business?

I have been training in Counselling since 2013. I started counselling my own clients in March 2015 as part of a charity , volunteer placement I set up in a deprived area in Bristol. I still volunteer with the Charity and have gained funding for the service to be coordinated by someone else now. So now is the time to expand my own private practice as well as the volunteer sector work.

Why should our clients choose you?

I think its a really personal thing to choose the right therapist for you, I myself have had differing experiences and having the right relationship in the room with your counsellor is essential to the therapy being of real benefit to you.
I think if I was looking for a roofer or an I.T support person id check certain things about qualifications and likely reviews. I wouldn't really be wondering about the importance of a deep therapeutic relationship with them just about the job being done.
With a counsellor , yes absolutely ensure they are qualified, insured and registered to a governing body such as BACP or NCS ( I am NCS) but also if you are unsure I would call or arrange a call to you to have 10 minutes on the phone to get a feel for the counsellor and if they feel right for you.- The relationship will be key- that's my biggest advice.
Soon that premise my greatest strength in the field - while having all relevant qualifications and experience etc, is that I have a genuine warmth and I will listen attentively and I will be honest and gently challenge where appropriate.
I have had a really varied experience while working with clients with many complex issues. I can genuinely say that the feedback I have received personally from clients are that the therapy they have received has changed their lives.
I contract on the first session with you, and as the session draws to a close I will ask you if you want to continue working with me as your counsellor. it is absolutely ok if you say no, because its not about anyone being bad, sometimes people just don't match and that's ok! In my experience counselling so far- when I have asked a client if they would like to continue with me- I have never as of yet had a no.
