I offer person centred counselling that integrates other theoretical models where appropriate, for example working with dream material in a Jungian sense, or using art therapy techniques to help bring material in the unconscious or subconscious minds to light. Sessions last for one hour and can either be face to face at my home address, or using skype or telephone counselling. Counselling sessions are agreed to with an informal contract, which highlights the time and frequency of sessions. This is usually weekly for one hour each session, and the sessions are usually held on the same day each week, at the same time. Face to face, or telephone or skype; each has its own merits. It can take time for the deeper material to emerge and I therefore offer longer term counselling for those who feel they need it. Counselling can come and go; ebbing and flowing with the integration process. There is no one size fits all, and so I accommodate short or longer term counselling as needed.
I feel inspired while helping others to feel clearer and more whole in their lives. There is a great sense of achievement and a good feeling, as I believe this inner work is so very important for those whose lives demand some form of analysis, in order to become whole and have a greater sense of freedom and achievement; healing past wounding and freedom from habitual thinking patterns. I value the work of helping others.
My choice to be in private practice came about because I felt it impossible for me to mould my own process into the clinical models of how, when and how often counselling sessions happened and where the type of counselling is limited. This is why I trained in Person Centred Integrative Counselling, so that I could offer longer term counselling and a more open longer term therapeutic relationship, that can give the needed time for deeper material to come to the light of scrutiny within a therapeutic relationship built on trust over time.
Clients should choose me, if they feel a resonance with what I have shared here, and if they have the 'feeling' of this being a potentially fruitful, safe, confidential, and professional relationship, whose purpose is solely for the benefit of the client to unravel the mysteries of life that challenge them. The therapeutic relationship is one that needs to be built on trust and the knowledge that there is a professional quality to what is a deeply intimate journey. It is the professional qualities that I have as a counsellor that hold that therapeutic space for my clients.
