Bodhi Therapy Nottingham

Nottinghamshire

Hello and a warm welcome. I run a small private practice called, Bodhi Therapy Nottingham. The sole aim being to help and support you to work through the things that are making you feel not quite yourself at the moment. Whatever the issue, work related stress, anxiety, relationship issues, family trouble, historical events, in fact whatever it is that is impacting your daily, emotional life, talking about it can help. It is my experience, that therapy can be likened to pressing the pause button. ABOUT ME I am an experienced, fully qualified, accredited and insured psychotherapist. My interest in mental health started around 20 years ago when I first studied counselling. Since then, I have worked as a groom in dressage and horse racing, worked in music promotion and education, which led me back, full circle, into counselling. I have written research on my special areas of interest, the Inner-Critical voice and on honesty and transparency in the counselling room. HOW I WORK I am open and honest and base my philosophy and values within the Person-Centred model, truly believing that the client is at the centre of the work done. Whilst working with me, you will not be judged for what you say, nor will you be told what to talk about. This will feel like a tailor made service, as I value each person as an individual, knowing that one way, or one theory does not suit us all. It is vital that you feel comfortable and safe with me and at the practice. I take great care to be an ethical practitioner, taking confidentiality seriously and strive to mutually create a growthful, empowering relationship, with trust at its core. WHAT TO EXPECT The great thing about this approach is that you are in charge, you define the pace and content. I wont claim to 'know how you feel' or 'tell you it will all be ok', I provide a space in which to be heard. Together we will explore the feelings and experiences you have, making you able to better understand yourself, helping you become more aware of your own process. With this growing awareness you will begin to develop a stronger sense of who you are and how you tick, hopefully leading you to the change you desire. However, within this journey it may not always feel comfortable. Working with a range of experiences can lead to some surprising emotional responses. During more difficult times in therapy, you may become upset, angry and confused. These are all part of your own healing process, which is normal.

What do you love most about your job?

There are many things I love about my work. But one that stands out, is how much I have learnt about people and the strength they have. It is a privilege to sit with a client and watch them grow, to become more confident, to realise they are more than they think they are and to see them going in the direction they want to be going. It is an honour to be entrusted with that view and it really is one of the best parts of my work.

What inspired you to start your own business?

I was always my dream to work for myself. Part of having a private practice is to have control of the space where I work. I find I am able to broaden the scope of therapy when I have the control of where I work. I also don't miss the commute!!!

Why should our clients choose you?

I have had the pleasure to work with many people, experiencing many differing things. I see people as the remarkable, individuals they are. I offer a straight forward and open approach to therapy, ensuring that when working with me, you will never feel like a number or just another client, but valued and heard. This is of the upmost importance to me.
I also offer a FREE half hour consultation, so you are able to meet me and the space we shall be working, to give you a chance to see if I am the right person for you before you commit emotionally and financially. I believe this is vital, as choosing a therapist is an important task.
