It is fair to say that my own traumatic experiences as a child led to a passion for making a difference for others and I knew early on in my career that I wished to work with individuals to support them feel empowered and enabled with taking control back over their lives, behaviour and responses to other people. However through my early career I begun to learn that in order for one to be able to do that; they first needed to have been empowered and enabled to understand their own sense of self, their early experiences and the impact that this may have had on the way they relate and view themselves within their world.
It is from this awareness that I felt a desire to retrain as a therapist and work in the field that once gave me the conditions for change and personal growth.
I am so passionate about counselling and what it can offer individuals that my work never feels like work- its part of who I am and what I love to do!
I knew that I wanted to have a private practice soon after I graduated, however I also knew that it would be beneficial to experience working within various settings in order to gain as much experience as possible.
Having a private practice allows me to offer a greater level of flexibility to clients and therefore meet a wider array of needs.
Clients should not choose me for any other reason other than if they feel comfortable and like they can build a trusting relationship. Yes I have a wealth of knowledge and experience which serves me well, not too mention the high level of recomendation I recieve, however ultimately I urge all potential clients to choose who they feel would be most suitable.
We dont all take our tea the same way and the same goes for Counsellors/Therapists! It’s your choice (as the client) and it’s totally ok to shop around.
