I provide professional and caring counselling to support you around a variety of issues including anxiety, low self-esteem and depression. Working in a thriving organisation that helps people who suffered from sexual abuse alongside my private practice allows me to effectively engage with my clients. Having gained experience of not only one to one therapy, but also group work constantly challenges my therapeutic capacity.

Natasha is a very empathetic coach and has very good listening skills. She asks the right questions and is very thoughtful. These have been developed both in her client facing roles in banking and her lecturing career and more recently via additional training and accreditation in this specialist area. She is comfortable undertaking her coaching and counselling + support services by a variety of channels , including phone, over the web / by VC and in person. I am looking forward to working more deeply in the coming months with her. I can strongly recommend her .

Timeout Counselling is an online service and offers two approaches to Therapy, each model is for individuals, families and carers of loved ones struggling with mental health. The first approach is Person-centred Counselling and is essentially a Talking Therapy, an approach which allows the client time to explore underlying causes for their distress and gain understanding and insight into a clear path forward. Through talking therapy, the client learns to take control and trust in his/her ability to know what’s best for them. Person-centred Therapy is a non judgemental, non directive approach affording individuals the opportunity to feel empowered and focus on what is important to them rather than the Professional deciding for them, in other words “the client is the expert.” The Person-centred approach is usually a long term therapy rather than a quick fix. One reason for this is due to the time it takes for a trusting relationship to form between the client and the therapist. It is vital that clients feel they can share their deepest emotions without fear of being judged and this does not happen over night. Secondly, the aim of person-centred therapy is to release the client from any emotional distress, mental confusion and/or limiting beliefs. Person centred counselling arms the client with the opportunity to become more self-aware, and more in control of creating the sort of positive changes they want to see in their life, to feel empowered to deal with their concerns and gain further insight into who they are and what they need to overcome their difficulties. The second approach is for those who prefer more direction and where a clear issue or goal is identified, Timeout Counselling can offer structured intervention where the goal is to focus on particular issues such as, managing symptoms of Anxiety or PTSD for example or it may be that a person cares for a family member with mental health difficulties and is unsure of how to help them. Through Psychoeducation and Skills Training, this approach arms the client with a deeper understanding of the mental health issue they care for along with range of techniques and coping methods to help their loved one manage symptoms. This is usually completed over a 12 week course however, depending on the presenting issue, sessions can be extended. Whichever approach you are drawn to it is natural to feel nervous at the thought of entering into therapy after all, you are potentially sharing aspects of your life which may be painful with a complete stranger and placing your trust in someone you do not know. Timeout Counselling will ensure that you are not pressured into addressing anything you feel uncomfortable with talking about until you feel at ease, the sessions are led by you in as much as you can talk about whatever you feel is important or relevant and at your own pace.
One of the reasons I love my job is because of my genuine interest in people. It is extremely heartwarming and humbling to witness a person's progress during their therapy experience especially when they can leave the sessions feeling empowered and ultimately capable of dealing with what life throws at them. I work towards being redundant, my job is to facilitate a person in understanding her/himself to such an extent that they no longer need my help, I don't believe in dragging things out for my own financial benefit. I am lucky enough to do a job where I meet interesting people and where I play a small part in them reaching their potential, taking back control of their lives and overcoming difficulties. I am inspired every day and it's an absolute joy.
I decided to start my own business due to being privy to the lack of ongoing support within the health sector. I have worked for a number of years in services where the lack of funding has resulted in extremely long waiting lists and very time limited support which all too often leaves individuals and families at a loss for where to seek help. I have lost count of the times I have heard how people have been left to cope alone because they have completed their allocated sessions and it saddens me to hear that people have deteriorated because of it. This is why I started my own practice, to allow people to take the time they need to address their issues and concerns without feeling they need to cram as much in as they can, this is not good practice and certainly not effective.
My background stems from personal experience of mental health, I know first hand how it can feel to be suffering and to feel alone and isolated from the rest of the world. I also have first hand experience of how it feels to witness loved ones who are struggling and to feel helpless in how to help them. I have studied extremely hard to gain the qualifications I need to practice within the law but I do not believe there is a substitution for lived experiences when you are striving to understand another person's struggle, I don't believe that passing exams can ever be enough to really have any idea of what it feels like to spend your life struggling with mental health. I can offer deep empathy and understanding along with a wide range of knowledge where psychoeducation is concerned. I work towards offering a complete human package. In my experience, clients often feel safer in therapy when they are surrounded by familiarity, this also helps maintain regular attendance. As my service is online, this means that clients can attend therapy in the comfort of their own home.
