Professional House Cleaning vs cleaning by yourself

When it comes to cleaning your home, there really are two options available; do it yourself, or hire a local house cleaner to do it for you.

While hiring a house cleaner saves you a lot of time and ensures a better quality of cleaning, you might be wondering if it’s worth the money.

To help you make the decision, let’s talk about professional house cleaning vs cleaning your home yourself.

Do you have the time and resources needed for a successful cleanup?

This is the first question to ask yourself. As a busy professional or someone who has a lot on their plate, you may want to roll over the job of cleaning to someone else. If, on the other hand, you have enough time on your hands, you may want to do it yourself.

Also, think about the resources needed for the job at hand. Some kinds of cleaning (deep cleaning) may require specific products and equipment that could cost you far more than the cost of a cleaning service! If you don’t have access to these, hiring someone will save you a lot of money.

Do you have people around you who have allergies?

It is no secret that cleaning your home can trigger a whole range of allergies or physical reactions. If you have asthma, it probably isn’t the best idea to dust your walls, carpets, or bed sheets as that can trigger an attack.

On the flip side, if you have respiratory issues, it’s also not a great idea to smell chemicals from cleaning products that are used for the cleaning of ovens or bathrooms.

That’s where a house cleaner comes in! In most cases you won’t need to be home when the cleaning takes place, so you’ll be able to avoid any nasty substances that could produce an allergic reaction.

How big is the cleaning job?

If you live in a small apartment, it’s easier to keep on top of the cleaning yourself. But if you live in a large home with multiple floors and heavy footfall (we’re thinking children, pets, etc!) then hiring a cleaner is a far more time-efficient way to keep your home looking spick and span. It also means you won’t need to drag your vacuum up and down the stairs every week!

Is it a regular cleaning or deep cleaning?

Most cleaners offer regular and deep cleaning services.

Deep cleaning involves intense disinfection of areas which typically collect a lot of germs, dirt, and grime, but are harder to clean with regular products. Think of carpets, behind furniture, ovens etc.

For deep cleaning, hiring a professional to do it for you is the sensible option, as they’ll have the right equipment, knowledge, experience and products to carry out the clean successfully, without causing any damages.

But don’t think regular cleaning is easy to keep on top of either! Although it involves lighter work, such as dusting, mopping, vacuuming and wiping surfaces, this can still be a very time-consuming process, especially if you have other commitments such as childcare or work.

If you value your time a lot and would rather spend it relaxing, you can also hire a local house cleaner for that regular cleaning work that never seems to go away.

To sum up

While some cleaning jobs are fairly easy to carry out yourself, hiring a professional means the job will be completed to a much higher standard and more frequently.

Even washing, dusting, and vacuuming can become overwhelming with life getting in the way! And that’s not to mention the more difficult jobs which require the skills and specialist equipment of an expert to be completed correctly.

With house cleaning being an affordable option for most homeowners, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t get someone to take care of the housework for you - freeing up time for what matters to you.
