Pre-event communication was good and on the evening Richard was spot on time, took over the kitchen and let my wife and I entertain our guests. The quality and presentation of the food was superb, drawing very favourable comments and applause from our guests.

Set in a really beautiful country location, this hotel has a large covered terrace (serving afternoon tea) overlooking lawns and woodland. Our daughter booked two very spacious double ground floor rooms, each with large well-equipped modern bathrooms, all in a well-positioned annexe house. Restaurant service was excellent with a good menu selection and generous portions but, sadly, two meals out of four were rather disappointing (perhaps partly because we chose roast meat "Sunday Specials" for our 8pm dinner reservation). Large number of chefs were on view working in the kitchen so we had anticipated perfection! We would certainly go back again, when we can afford it, and rate our overall experience as well above average, just somewhat let down by disappointing Sunday evening. food, hence four stars instead of five.
