The Start Up Consultancy

‘21 Certificate of Excellence

I work on a one to one basis with start up's to assist them to realise their true potential, and overcome the challenges and anxieties of starting and growing their enterprise. My approach is individually tailored to each companies aspirations and needs, rather than a same size fits all approach of many business consultants. I am acutely conscious that in the start up phase finances can be tight, so as a starting point I offer my clients a two stage and fixed price approach. Phase 1 I offer all potential clients a 30 minute consultation. This can be done remotely via Zoom or Microsoft Teams and there is no charge for this session. This is a chance for you to see if you think we can work together and for me get a good understanding of your business vision. I will also explain my approach. If we both believe that we can work together then we can move on to Phase 2. Phase 2 It is universally acknowledged that a new start up will benefit from having developed a comprehensive business plan. Preparing this plan forces start up entrepreneurs to investigate and interrogate their business concept and provides a road map to their future. I use my experience to assist start up clients to produce this Business Plan and it will include; Executive Summary Mission Statement Business Definition Market Research Competitor Analysis Sales and Marketing Plan Financial Forecasts Cashflow Projection SWOT Analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) Conclusions Action Plan Cost Phase 2, preparing the Business Plan is done for a fixed cost of £1250.00. This process will include; Initial remote meeting to discuss the preparation of the Business Plan. Completion of our tailored Business Plan questionnaire. First draft of the Business Plan. Remote meeting to review and edit the first draft. Produce second draft of the Business Plan. Remote meeting to review and edit second draft. Production of the final draft of the Business Plan. Remote meeting to review completed Business Plan The creation of the Business Action Plan As a general point, I have spent my working life in the small business sector as both an employee and business owner and I am currently using this wide experience to assist clients in the following areas Business Plans - Growth Planning - Time Management - Financial Tracking - Key Performance Indicators - Business Processes and Procedures - Employee Engagement - Exit Strategies - Raising Debt and Equity Finance.

What do you love most about your job?

I work mostly with young entrepreneurs taking their first steps on the business ladder. I get a real kick out of using my experience to help them to establish and grow their businesses and to realise their personal and financial goals.

What inspired you to start your own business?

It is difficult to say exactly what inspired me. I just always had a hankering to work for myself. I started my first business in my 20's and have always been attracted to the creativity and challenge of running a business and the independence it can bring.

Why should our clients choose you?

I would say that the primary reason is my experience. I have 30 years of commercial background almost entirely working for myself or in partnership with others. Having started and grown 6 businesses I have been involved in making many good decisions and also some bad one's.

I now use this experience to assist start up businesses, and believe that this benefits my clients and enables them to avoid many of the common pitfalls and speeds up their growth.

Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.

Yes much of my work is carried out remotely. Meetings can be conducted via Zoom or Teams and all my documentation is available digitally. I work with clients throughout the UK and also some overseas.

What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?

Prior to the onset of the pandemic, I was already conducting much of my work with clients remotely. So in that sense I have not had to make many changes other than to pivot my face to face clients to online.
