Whilst I have only been practising for 8 years, I spent a few years studying various types of therapies before embarking on this, my second career. I feel that with my age; 30 years as a teacher; being a wife and a mother; and having lived in a foreign country for many years ( I am bilingual in Spanish) I have quite a bit of life experience that not many people have to offer.
At Best Life Therapies, I use , counselling, hypnotherapy & coaching to design a personal session plan to assist you in achieving your self-development goals and processing those difficult situation in life that we all face at one time or another.
Providing counselling and psychotherapy to individuals and couples. I have over 10 years of experience and am BACP accredited, so you can be confident that I will do my very best to listen, understand and assist you. I work from calm, quiet and confidential offices, just a little north of Summertown. Please take a moment to view my website to see if you would like to book an initial consultation with no obligations to continue.
I am a mental health specialist with 20 years of clinical practice in various settings. I have worked with people of all ages and diverse backgrounds who have sought support for a wide range of reasons. My expertise includes: trauma/PTSD, grief/bereavement, depression, bipolar and other mood problems, anxiety and OCD, sleep issues, and parenting support. I make use of various types of psychotherapy based on your needs and the most appropriate fit, including EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) therapy.
I provide counselling to meet your individual needs and to help you find your own way of dealing with life’s challenges. Experienced in working with both young people and adults to improve and maintain their mental health, we will work together on the problems that you face to find your own path to positive change and to continue with this after the counselling has ended.
I work in an integrative way which means I don't use a "one size fits all" approach - I work very much with the individual, accommodating their specific needs and offering an unjudged, safe space, building rapport and trust to enable change and healing to come about.
I love the privilege and humility of being able to support people who are currently struggling and suffering, and watching them, over time, flourish and evolve from someone who is in pain, to someone who then has processed that pain and gained the tools to flourish, thrive and embrace life again, like a butterfly emerging from a chrysalis and being set free. It is a beautiful and rewarding transition and it can happen to you too!
A journey of my own pain, suffering, hurt and disappointment - once you have truly experienced that depth of pain and hit rock bottom yourself, you can genuinely empathise and walk alongside someone else who is currently there, and give them the hope and tools for their own healing.
I offer a safe, empathic, unjudged space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings. I will not force you to talk about anything you are not ready to, but will be there alongside you, to sit with you, as you process and unpick whatever has brought you to my counselling room in the first place. I will offer tools and techniques, if appropriate, to enable you to feel in control of your life again, to manage and cope as you move forwards with hope.
During Covid-19, to keep everyone safe, I am working remotely. This has been proved to be equally as beneficial and therapeutic as working face to face. It also opens up wider opportunities for a good therapeutic match, to enable healing to happen, without having to take travel time and location into consideration.
I am working online via Zoom or WhatsApp video, both of which are encrypted and therefore safe, secure and confidential. I can also offer telephone counselling if this is not an option.
