Wendy is professional, friendly and obviously loves dogs. She is reliable and goes above and beyond to help out. I’m recovering from spinal surgery so cannot walk my dogs for a month or two and Wendy has been invaluable. My black labs are lively and boisterous but she isn’t phased at all. What do you love most about your job?
I love my job as a dog walker because it brings together all the things I value: companionship with dogs, time spent outdoors, physical activity, and the chance to work independently. Each dog has a unique personality, and building bonds with them feels like expanding my family in a joyful, furry way. Being outside daily, walking through parks or trails, lets me experience nature up close, which is refreshing and a great stress reliever. The job keeps me active without the need for a gym, and the flexibility of the schedule allows for personal time that most traditional jobs don’t offer. I also love the sense of community it brings — meeting other dog lovers, neighbors, and familiar faces along my routes creates a friendly, local network. Most of all, it’s rewarding to know that pet owners trust me with their pets’ happiness and well-being, giving my work a sense of purpose. Every day brings something new, from different routes to funny, memorable moments with the dogs, which keeps the job interesting and full of small adventures
What inspired you to start your own business?
Starting my dog walking business was inspired by a deep love for animals and a desire for work that felt meaningful and enjoyable every day. I’ve always had a natural connection with dogs, and I wanted a career where I could spend more time around them, helping improve their well-being while offering a valuable service to pet owners. The idea of being outside, staying active, and having a flexible schedule was also incredibly appealing compared to a typical desk job. I saw a real need for reliable, caring dog walkers in my community and realized I could combine my passion for animals with an entrepreneurial spirit to meet that need. Seeing how much joy and peace of mind I could bring to pet owners made me feel that this could be a fulfilling way to turn my love for dogs into a rewarding business
