I found the whole process extremely slow beyond imagination. Very minimal work was put into the appeal. In fact after reading their grounds for appeal I had to suggest additional points. I strongly believe i have wasted my money with this company. I am very disappointed with the outcome after waiting for almost a year for the decision for it to be declined. I know they must have used the same template for similar appeals hence no work carried out to make this appeal stand out. I wouldn’t want to waste my time and money or recommend them. Courtney and the team were nothing short of amazing in achieving my Certificate of Lawful Use which was granted today. I had indvertently converted my garage into a habitable space a while ago, thinking that I did not need permission as I had building regulations for it, however, my lovely new neighbour reported me to Planning Enforcement but she was no match for MZA Planning. I recently worked with Tom Wessely and MZA Planning on a planning appeal and unfortunately, my experience was very disappointing. Despite being promised a professional and thorough approach, I found the service provided by MZA Planning to be rushed, uncoordinated, and ultimately unsatisfactory. From the outset, the process was rushed, with little time given for me to provide input or feedback. Despite my attempts to get updates on the progress of my case, communication was lacking, and I was often left in the dark. This lack of transparency left me feeling frustrated and concerned about the progress of my appeal. Overall, my experience with Tom Wessely and MZA Planning was extremely disappointing. I can highly recommend MZA planning for helping navigate the planning process. I had a planning application stuck with Ealing Council for around 15 months without any progress whatsoever and a complete failure of communication from the council, when a friend recommended that I engage the services of MZA. As soon as Yussuf, the proprietor of MZA was on board, we started getting responses from the council and had regular dialogue with them. It required a lot of pushing from Yussuf, but he is in contact with the planners for several projects, so he has access and clearly knows the levers to pull to get things done. Although the council was still fairly useless, MZA got our application over the line to an approval within a few months of getting involved. We appointed MZA planning to help us with our change of use appeal / removal of condition 3 of planning. They made a retrospective and planning application for our existing patio area ( Approved 3 1/2 yrs ago ) fitted with electric blinds with translucent material for which my neighbor took an objection to . However, it was turned down by LBH. MZA made house holder planning appeal on our behalf and eventually It was approved by government Inspector. Mr Yussuf and his team was very professional & knowledgeable. The whole experience was totally stress free. We think it was money worth spending for our Disable Autistic son's outdoor enjoyment while he is using the garden especially in Winter months. He is an outdoor person. Well done MZA ! We have use the services of MZA planning for over 10 years, We run a small architectural practice in East London. We used the services of a MZA planning to undertake all our appeals. Alas, simply put, Yussuf Mwanza did not do his job. My main query was whether or not I needed planning permission for the specific kind of works I intended to do on my property. Having charged me 300+ GBP upfront, Yussuf said in his case review email that planning permission would not be required. I later found out, just recently, that in fact it would, from a much more thorough architect who, incidentally, charged me 60 GBP for the entire service. Therefore, Yussuf knowingly provided me with misleading and incorrect information and proved himself to be unreliable and incompetent. He spent a grand total of 15 minutes (or less) at my property and charged 300+ GBP for the experience. Yussuf also “forgot” about most of his commitments throughout our work together, never coming back to me on most of my email queries that he guaranteed he would address. He also had the impudence/nerve to send me an invoice on top of the original 300+ GBP in response to one email without an accompanying reply of any kind, and never came back/acknowledged the email itself. On the rare occasions that Yussuf did stoop so low as to bother acknowledging my emails, he invariably replied that the the concern in question was “not his job” or “area of expertise” and that he would revert after consulting with an external expert (which never happened). One wonders what Yussuf’s area of expertise is, since there are so many things it is not. A dreadful waste of time and money. Suggest you steer clear. More...

I've required MZA service for two seperate applications in the past 18 months. One of them a complicated HMO application and the other one in a conservation area and both got approved. I did have to liase with the Council and they're not magic workers however if there's a possibility MZA will give you the best chances. Highly recommended, will continue using them for future builds.
