How can someone tell if their Garage is suitable for conversion?
Every garage is suitable as long as it's water tight. It's just a matter of building up the layers to bring the building in line for what you want to use it for. The more work and layers it requires the higher the cost.
Run us through the different stages of the Garage conversion process - what's involved?
Normally the floor will require 100mm of insulation and a concrete screed, the walls will have no insulation and will required 50mm-100mm depending on what they're made of and a plasterboard finish.The roof is normally good and will just require insulation inside and plasterboard ceiling. Most garage have an electrical circuit with a light and socket so this can be used to create more sockets as required and improve the lighting. Garage doors can be kept and blocked from the inside or removed and a window put in under permitted development.
