We hired Borgo Otto Interiors to help redesign a double-fronted house in Stoke Newington shortly after purchasing it. Ale was instrumental in helping us clarify our vision for the house, ensuring it would meet the evolving needs of our growing family—whether for working from home, socializing with family and friends, or accommodating teenagers without sacrificing our space.
She guided us through the creative process, from defining a cohesive color palette to enhancing the connection between the kitchen and garden. By removing a utility room that obstructed the view, she created a large window with a cozy seating area instead and a new kitchen. Ale also remodeled the bathrooms, transforming a long, narrow space into two separate areas: a stylish shower room and a playful cloakroom. She brought the children's room to life, making it fun while maintaining the color theme used throughout the house.
Her attention to detail helped us finish the project at a level we would never have achieved on our own. She also brought her professionalism and expertise to negotiations with contractors and vendors, securing us the best prices for flooring, a new kitchen, tiles, and furniture. In the end, having her on board saved us money and added tremendous value to our home, which has since been featured in several interior design magazines.

“I hired Alessandra initially to redesign the upstairs of my house, where I wanted to refresh the bathroom and three bedrooms with a view to putting it on the market.
She also suggested changes to the layout, so that I now have three decent sized bedrooms and a spacious bathroom, instead of two bedrooms, a study and a little bathroom. The difference it has made to my life is wonderful ! I was so happy with her work that I also hired her to fully redesign the entire downstairs, add a kitchen extension, a new bathroom/shower room and a full makeover of the exterior.
“Alessandra took time to listen to my priorities and in particular the budget restrictions. She was fully aware of the rationale for the work, but made radical changes without falling into the classic development stereotypes. She has created a lovely ambience by steering me away from using dozens of spotlights, and has used colour to facilitate sleep or work. Furthermore she had some brilliant ideas to reuse and recycle some beautiful terrazzo tiles that were leftover from a different project always keeping an eye not only on the budget but the sustainability of the projects. I have shown the redesign so far to an estate agent - and he told me he would be interested in renting it himself, if I decide not to sell!” Matthew.

Alessandra was recommended by our architect. We were searching for an interior designer who could bring a modern feel but would be fully in sympatico with the period layout of our property.
A four bedroom Arts and Crafts house built in 1904, it has the Edwardian features typical of its time, along with a new kitchen and dining extension. The brief was to create a style that could hold it all together, and give it life.
“Designing a house is about giving it the right personality, and Alessandra took the time to find out more about us. What were our children like? How did we like to work, eat, socialise? Were the bedrooms for sleeping, or also for study? How much storage would we need? She quickly understood the mood that the house would need in order to make us happy, and began by choosing a palette of colours that offset vibrant, warm accents against darker foundations, with paler neutrals for space and balance. The high ceilings and plentiful light of the house meant that deep tones, like Farrow & Ball’s ‘Railing’, worked well to enclose the spaces without becoming overpowering, as they might have done in a house with smaller proportions.
“With a backdrop of colour that brings the house to life, the task of choosing the right furniture has also been much easier. Alessandra gave us excellent guidance, and was particularly aware of how to place pieces around the original fireplaces. Her core philosophy throughout has been - take time over the fundamentals, master the visual grammar, and the rest will come together. It certainly has.
“Visitors are amazed at what we have done. The house feels welcoming, beautiful and human. And, as we have settled in, we have been able to use Alessandra’s mood boards as a reliable guide to hanging the right pictures, and positioning the right accessories. It has been less like simply moving house, and more like being given new eyes. We feel incredibly lucky!

We had a very common problem: we wanted new colours for our walls, but there were various challenges. The front of the house faced east;
the back west. We had a conservatory where the light changed throughout the day. We had already bough expensive blinds and we didn’t want to pay again to fit a new scheme. The house was small, and so we could see the front and back at the same time.
After visiting us for a consultation, Alessandra took notes and created a mood board. She listened to our concerns and suggested we choose a darker shade, which would not fight with the blinds and would also make their ‘Slipper Satin’ colour look more interesting. She proposed Farrow & Ball’s ‘Hague Blue’.
We were sceptical at first, because we feared it would be too dark. But we tried it and have no regrets. As Alessandra noted, the colour is strong enough to stand by itself and works perfectly beside both the ‘Slipper Satin’ and the traditional white of the conservatory frame. At the same time, she advised us on light fittings that would chime with the language of the rest of the house. We wholeheartedly recommend Alessandra if you are considering ways to make your house designs and colours fit together beautifully. Tim and Zaira

We worked with Borgo Otto Interiors alongside our architect for a complete remodel of our Victorian house in North London.
Alessandra was responsible for designing all of our bathrooms, a new kitchen, the garden room, and all of the bedrooms. The results have been fantastic—we constantly receive compliments on how stylish and beautiful our home is.
Throughout the process, Borgo Otto was incredibly supportive. Making so many decisions at the fast pace of a refurbishment can be overwhelming, but she guided us through every choice. Without her expertise, we likely would have made several costly mistakes.
She also handled logistics impeccably, staying on top of deliveries and using her trade contacts to secure the best prices for us. Her professionalism and attention to detail made the entire experience much less stressful, and the final outcome speaks for itself.
We highly recommend Borgo Otto Interiors for any design project, big or small!

Dear Borgo Otto Team,
We recently engaged Borgo Otto to remodel our top-floor two-bedroom flat in Knightsbridge for rental purposes.
The results exceeded our expectations in every way. The design is contemporary, stylish, and perfectly balanced to appeal to a wide range of tenants.
One of the standout suggestions was converting a deep, previously underutilized wardrobe into an en-suite shower room. This addition has significantly increased the flat's appeal and made it much more competitive in the rental market.
Another great recommendation was to keep the existing floorboards, which were sanded down and re-varnished. The floors now look more luxurious and expensive without the cost of replacing them. The introduction of a new flooring on the outside terrace also enhanced the overall feel of the flat.
Borgo Otto's expert choice of Farrow & Ball colours has given the flat a fresh, elegant transformation. She also styled /stage the flat for photographs and for tenants viewing, which was incredibly useful.
We are very pleased with the results and would highly recommend Borgo Otto for any interior design projects.
Best regards,
John

Excellent! We recently had the pleasure of working with Borgo Otto Intreriors for a full color consultation and the remodelling of our outdoor kitchen at our holiday home in Forte dei Marmi.
and a period bathroom in our main house in Parma, Italy.
From the very beginning, Alessandra understood our vision perfectly and worked with us to create spaces that are not only beautiful but functional as well.
The color consultation brought our home to life, with a palette that reflects the natural neutral beauty of the surrounding area. The transformation of our outdoor kitchen has made it the perfect space for entertaining, and the bathroom remodel is now a luxurious retreat that feels like a spa.
We couldn’t be happier with the results and would highly recommend Alessandra to anyone looking to enhance their home. The attention to detail, professionalism, and creativity throughout the project were truly exceptional!
Alessandra is also a precious help in the choice of material and colours and made us save money offering us to take advantageof her trade discounts.

What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
To keep my clients safe during the COVID-19 pandemic, I’ve made several key adjustments to my process.
