All certification whether it be asbestos survey reports, asbestos analysis reports, asbestos air testing reports, hazardous waste certificates for disposal of asbestos waste, etc are all provided electronically via email. What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
COVID 19 Asbestos Surveying/Analytical Procedure and Asbestos Removal Works.
PPE REQUIRMENTS.
1. CAT 5/6 Coveralls x 2 to be worn throughout the asbestos survey, analytical works or asbestos removal works.
2. Staff wearing Sundstrom half mask or Sabre Phantom Full Face Respirators.
3. Staff wearing Rubber gloves taped at joints.
4. Staff wearing Over boots x 2 taped at joints.
5. Staff using Hand Sanitizer before and after any works.
6. Antibacterial wipes used throughout works.
7. Antibacterial sprays used throughout works.
8. Waste bags for PPE.
Procedure for undertaking the works.
1. Before entering a property/site to undertake sampling/survey/air testing, asbestos removal works, the client MUST confirm to the AC&MS staff member if they have been tested for COVID 19/are in self isolation or are showing symptoms of the virus. This is purely for Due Diligence.
2. Ensure before accessing the property/site that the tenant/owner/client of the property/site is
aware of the specific COVID 19 close contact procedures (2 metre distance at all times) and
request that throughout the works the areas of work are free of all occupants.
3. Discuss the full scope of works with the client prior to entering the property/site to establish
location, methodology to minimise activity within the premise/site.
4. Enter the property/site with ONLY essential equipment to complete the task required. If the TEAMS tablet is required on site, seal within a clear bag to prevent contamination.
5. Undertake the works in accordance within house procedures.
6. On completion of the works our staff will leave the property without making direct contact with the tenant/owner/operatives. ALL PPE IS WORN ON LEAVING SITE.
Waste Disposal.
Waste from possible cases and cleaning of areas where possible cases have been (including
disposable cloths and tissues):
1. Will be put in a plastic rubbish bag and sealed when full.
2. The plastic bag will then be placed in a second sealed bag.
3. Waste will be stored safely and kept away from anyone. We will not put your waste in a communal waste area.
Decontamination of AC&MS operative.
1. On leaving the property/site all equipment used to undertake the works is cleaned thoroughly using Antibacterial wipes and sealed into a clear bag.
2. Before entering the AC&MS vehicle the AC&MS operative will remove all PPE, (EXCEPT Respirator) and place into a clear bag / sprayed with Antibacterial spray and sealed. The outer bag is also be sprayed with antibacterial spray.
4. When our operative is satisfied that the above procedures are complete they will wash hands using
the Antibacterial gels.
5. Leave site.

ASBESTOS ANALYSIS
AC&MS Ltd has successfully maintained its UKAS accreditation (BS EN ISO/IEC 17025) for Bulk Analysis by polarised light microscope (PLM) since 2005.
This service is undertaken in our own fully equipped laboratory, giving you the added advantage of:

The in house laboratory is staffed by a team of technicians to meet your requirements. All analysis is carried out in accordance with current accredited in house procedures and HSE guidance, including HSG 248 “Asbestos: The analysts’ guide for sampling, analysis and clearance procedures”.
All AC&MS Ltd Laboratory staff are trained to the national recognised British Occupational Hygiene Society (BOHS) proficiency module P401 and have a wealth of experience dealing with all types of asbestos and non asbestos samples.
AC&MS Ltd are active participants in the Asbestos in materials scheme (AIMS) instigated by the Health and Safety Laboratory (HSL), and have consistently achieved a satisfactory result since joining.
AIR MONITORING
AC&MS offer Asbestos Air Monitoring and 4 Stage Clearances to ensure Licensed Asbestos removal Contractors works are completed to the highest standard and in line with Asbestos Removal Regulation HSG 247.
AC&MS are UKAS Accredited (ISO/IEC 17025) for
1. Four Stage Clearances (certificate of Re Occupation)

Our team of asbestos analysts all hold the recognised BOHS Proficiency modules P403 “Asbestos Fibre Counting” and P404 “Air Sampling of Asbestos & MMMF and requirements for Certificate of Re Occupation” and follow strict HSE guidance including HSG 248 Asbestos : The Analyst Guide for Sampling, Analysis and Clearance Procedures and in - House Procedures.

ASBESTOS REMOVAL
AC&MS Ltd have a dedicated asbestos removal management team who are fully qualified in the supervision & management of the safe removal and disposal of asbestos by the British Occupational Hygiene Society (BOHS) proficiency module P406.
The management team is supported by an efficient team of asbestos removal operatives who are fully qualified in the removal of non-notifiable, non licensed products by a nationally recognised training provider.
All non-licenced asbestos removal is carried out in accordance with L143 (Work with materials containing asbestos).
In addition AC&MS Ltd asbestos removal management team can act in a supervisory role for the client in all notifiable asbestos removal carried out by HSE licenced contractors.
LEAD TESTING
Continued and excessive exposure to lead can affect multiple body systems such the kidney and brain, in addition it can increase the risk of high blood pressure. Lead poisoning is particularly harmful to young children.
Exposure to lead based products can come in many forms such as:
Lead based paint that was applied to construction materials in most building sectors up to the 1960’s, including schools, offices and housing. However it was not removed from commonly used paints until the 1980’s. So it can still be present in most buildings under the modern paint coatings.
Lead was used in roofing for valleys, flashing and flat roofs.
The benefit of this test is so you as an individual or company can plan the most effective way of avoiding unnecessary exposure to lead dust during any projects no matter the size.
LEGIONELLA
WHAT IS LEGIONELLA DISEASE?
Legionnaires disease is a lung infection which is a form of pneumonia which can be fatal, caused by the legionella bacterium.
The Legionella bacteria are found naturally in the environment, usually in water systems such as lakes, ponds, reservoirs and rivers.
It can be found in in water systems in the form of tiny droplets of water where the temperature is between 20 and 40 degrees centigrade.
The most common way to get this illness is through inhaling water droplets from a contaminated water system containing the bacteria.
Symptoms of Legionella are similar to flu which can include:
Headaches
Muscle Pains
Tiredness
Dry Cough
Fever
In most cases it can be treated with antibiotics, but in extreme cases it has been fatal.
